i don't know why hurley wants to come watch grundy lose. everyone knows they will but still hurley wants to be able to go home laughing because we lost. when really the idiots look stupid, because we beat the crap out of them.
Everyone form hurley dont act like this. Everyone form hurley does not want to see grundy lose. We know Grundy is a better football team than we are and just becasue some people want to see this game doesnt mean we want to see Grundy lose. The Hurley game wasnt changed becasue of the Grundy/Richlands game . Just becasue some idiot form hurley posted that doesnt mean anything. If Grundy wins it would give us some points and help us go to JI Burton instead of Clintwood....lol... I wish the Golden Wave luck tonight against Mance and his troopers. Hope you guys can make a game of it.

There is always some mysterious sickness affecting hurley when they lose(same excuse last year when haysi beat them)
as far as Haysi v Giles Haysi played almost the perfect game, very few penalties and only 1(?) turnover. I bet both teams had 450+ yards of offense, crazy game
there was not any sickness on the team. Grundy beat us in every aspect of the game. congrats to Grundy.
I always liked reading his picks too. Hope we hear from him again this season. He's from Lebanon so I bet he'd come up with a good one for the Honaker/Lebanon game friday..
Actually he is coaching at Hurley this year so I dont know if he will be doing Leanards losers this year becasue he will be busy getting that rebel O Line ready to go...lol......So I heard thats who it is.....lol....
Well in my opinion I think that Twin Valley will have some competition this year for sure...I'm not sayin the Panthers won't pull off another BDD victory, but I am saying that its going to be a very tough road that the Panthers haven't had to travel in about 3 years. Also, the Panthers are going to have a really tough time trying to find a point guard to replace Horn, and from what I've seen and heard its going to have to be somebody besides Viers...I think they have a pretty good guard coming up from JV though..I think the names Hubbard. Honaker is going to be a contender. From what I hear they're going to be pretty tough. Council can shoot lights out, I think they proved that last year in the BDD tourney. They will miss the inside presence, but with shooters like they have they may just surprise a few people. As far as Haysi goes...WELL its going to be a very long long season. And I feel very sorry for Flemming......FINALLY, I'm going to have to say that Hurley is young, but they are hungry. However, I think we should all be honest with ourselves..Hurley is overrated....For sure. And, I'm not just hating on Hurley.
For the VALLEY it will be about the same outcome it was in football. They will go down to Honaker and Hurley
Hearing Hurley's scrimmaging @ W'son Fri. instead of ER, and ER's moved Teco to Sat.
The only team they would get to play was East Ridge and they play them in regular season. There was no point in going to East Ridge if they could not play Grundy or Powell county.
Hurleys scrimmage with Twin Springs has been moved to Saturday at 6pm at Hurley. Twin springs had a kid that passed away this week and they could not make it on friday.
I know that seeing the "old SWD Rivalries" would be good if we could compete with them. We haven't won a district game in a long time. Very few were close. I hate to say it like this, but judging from the "home crowd" I would say that people do not like to watch the abuse. Here is what I think. If you can keep some of the SWD, it will be hard, and schedule a 8+ win season the F-ball program could have something to be proud of. Here is what I would schedule.
week 1 East Ridge
week 2 Shelby Valley
week 3 Twin Valley
week 4 Big Creek
week 5 Hurley
week 6 Pound
week 7 Appalachia
week 8 Haysi
week 9 Castlewood
week 10 Honaker
This would get Grundy about 6-0 every year. The fans will come out. 6-1 Fans come out. 6-2 fans come out. 6-3 fans come out 6-4 is a winning season. I know this is just words on a page and they need to get the schedule they can compete with. How do you eat an elephant?
Hurley tried to get Grundy on the schedule this year for 2009 and the only thing Grundy could do was get them on in 2010 in place of matewan so thats waht happened. I think maybe they could start off 4-2 with this schedule or 3-3. Big Creek and Hurley woud have beat Grundy this year.
Clintwood, Appalachia, JJ kelly, East Ridge, Pound, Castlewood, and I know Big Creek will play them becasue they are always needing games. Its not that hard people. Hurley and TV always manages to find 7 non-district games and you know that everybody dont want to make the trip to Hurley or TV either. Grundy has jsut had to schedule 3 non-district games in the past and Hurley and TV has always had to schedule 7. Come on people scheduling is not going to be that bad. They are people out there that will play.
Also it says Greg Tester and David Scammell are the only two 2000 yard rushers in Buchanan County history. If im not mistaken I think Shane Justice had over 2000 yards at Hurley. I may be wrong not for sure.....
Tester was never in no trouble......lol.........This whole thread needs to be squashed.......Its supposed to hurley and TV.......Both of those guys are good guys and no one needs to be on here making statements about either when you dont know them.....
yep.....Mr. Altizer should check out the 2 point conversion he gave Castlewood and see phillips was clearly knock out of bounds and did not cross the goal......It took them a minute to decide to give it to them.....I guess the crowd over there buffaloed him.....Also, To my knowedge if you have a running back in the grasp in the backfield he is not allowed to throw it through the back of the end zone without and intentional grounding or it should have been a touchback and hurley ball on the 20......This game was too hard fought to not make them calls on the final drive....congrats to castlwood and hurley....great game
I think Pocohontas won a few games last year and they had several good athletes...Where did those guys end up playing at? Im taking it as most ended up at Tazwell and im sure they got a few that has really helped out.....
