  1. i agree with parsons (except about joels inexperience at qback ,he has more reps behind center than austin). bottom line is that defenses have to respect and play to where austin is. as qback they will load the box and bring pressure. this years o line is not as strong as those of the past few years.when teams put hard pressure they shut down the run and everything else.with austin out side they have to play to him .even then with pressure we can tear up a defense with short passsing, and if they cover pass the run game opens up.

  2. i was very impressed with ricky flood. everyone knew going in that he was a good wrestler. after losing a heartbreaker to bartley (that could have gone either way) he showed a lot of character in the way he handled the officials decision. many would have thrown a fit, argued, cursed, and thrown their headgear. his attitude impressed me and many others more than anything. good luck to him at state and the rest of his future

  3. i dont think anyone would want me salty, most scouts wont even look at old has beens that never where (not even E&H).my point wasnt that everyone should go d1 it was that there are many players that could play somewhere if only there was someone to make the calls and films.frankly i'm more concerned that they use the sports to further their education than whether or not they become an all americian. if its uva or uva wise ,i dont care .if they can recieve financial assistance to do so and it enables them to have the education they need to become a productive member of society -- thats what i'm talkin about. btw. if you win a natl championship at any level then i'm proud of you!!! especially if your from good old southwest by god virginia!!! laugh.gif

If you are good enough no one has to call or put film out . The colleges will find you. How many times was Frank Beamer at RHS Or Phill Fulmer. When Compton was a Sr. Pat Dye Johnny Majors were all in Rlands trying to get Mike to Sign.Case closed

[/ QUOTE ]that may be true but not completely accurate salt pork. true, they must have the ability to compete, but they also need someone to ring the bell. as sucessful as mike was someone still had to drop a tip. if that doesnt happen they dont get the oppurtunity, no matter how good they are. i doubt the recruiters take many tips from the local news press. coaches and teachers can be instramental in the recruiting process by bringing the attention that some kids may not necessarly get otherwise. just my opinion it may not be worth much

  5. [ QUOTE ]

I have heard that they have ran into some type of field drainage problem at Richlands and the field turf can not be installed there? Something about the fill or something under the exsisting site? Anybody heard anything about that? I know everything is a go over at Honaker, should be ready this coming season.

[/ QUOTE ]I have also heard this and it wouldnot suprise me. that whole area is sitting on blue mud. it could create some engineering issues but none that could not be overcame if the will is there to overcome
