  1. One reason I left SW VA in 1957 and have only returned occasionally is because of the trash people dump everywhere. They always talk about people in the Appalachian region having so much pride. If they did, they would be more concerned with their surroundings, which they pollute and destroy the spectacular scenic beauty of the area. I was hoping that things would change in the 60 years since I departed the area, but the only substantial change seems to be the current drug use, more poverty, and crime. It is so sad and I become depressed every time I visit. Sad, but true. Maybe it will change at some point in this century.

  2. Good teams don't allow bad officiating to beat them. It is the coaching staff's responsibility to guide these young men through such adversity and instill a winning attitude. I realize the difficulty of coaching young people as I have coached them, but if your team is skilled enough, bad officiating shouldn't affect them. I agree one bad call can lose or win the game for a team, but good teams must play though this. Maybe Marion had something to do with the loss. Better luck next year, Dawgs.

  3. Each week I log onto the forum hoping to see some positive results about the Dawgs, only to find the weekly loss. What is wrong with this program? Geographics aren't much different between Richlands and Tazewell, yet Tazewell cannot match the success of Richlands. It has been that way since I graduated from THS in 1955. Why?

  4. It is obvious that Tazewell had a abysmal season. I do not live in the area, so what are the feelings that the program can recover next year? From what I can gleen from other posters, there appears to be some internal problems within the team. Any thoughts?

  5. I have been frustrated that Richlands has always had a better team than Tazewell, even in the 1950's when I attended THS. Maybe Tazewell should enroll some spies at Richlands to determine what they are doing that Tazewell obviously isn't. How many of the freshmen that enter the football program are eventual dropouts? It appears that there is a problem with the school administration. Parents cannot interfere with a sports program unless someone in the school administration sanctions it. I suppose Tazewell is performing a service for others; giving their coaches experience to coach a winning team elsewhere. Maybe the intrusive parents should take a look at themselves as a part of the problem.
