  1. At least we have high expectations. You have to remember that last two years (when WVU has had really high expectations and failed), they were a very, very young team. Both years they have had several 1st or 2nd year players starting on defense, which is not the main focus at WVU. They have lost games because of their defense and their offense, both of which were unbelievable young the past couple of years. Oh....so Calvin Johnson was your only good player? What about Joe Johnson and Tashard Choice? You being a big GT fan should know that Choice lead the ACC in rushing yards last year. Yet you still call Calvin Johnson your only good player. I agree with other posts on this topic. I have done the same exact thing before....made up excused to make me feel better about losing. Most of us have done it and you are now.
  2. That is my mistake. I am sorry about that. I got into teams and didnt think before I typed it.
  3. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I am not an ACC fan. I am a huge WVU fan but I still say that the Big East is a very weak football conference. [/ QUOTE ] How is it very weak when they proved last year that they can play with anyone. [/ QUOTE ] They had 3 decent teams last year. All of which might have not deserved to finish as high as they did. The Big East as a whole is a weak conference. The past few years they have had several good teams: West Virgina, Rutgers (last year) and Louisville. When Louisville came into the Big East it was a big boost to the inter-conference competition but it doesn't put them anywhere close to the top conferences in America. When they lost VT, Miami, BC and Maryland, the Big East went from being a top-5 conference to a middle-of-the-pack conference with a few good teams every year. WVU, Louisville and Rutgers were all good teams last year, but they didn't face a schedule as tough as many of the top teams at the end of the season. The reason I say the Big East is weak is because when you look at the conference as a whole they have 2-3 exceptional teams each year. The SEC, ACC, Big-10 and the other power conferences are strong conferences from top to bottom.
  4. I am sorry that I did not find this entertaining at all. How can you joke about something like this when 33 people were murdered today.
  5. I had chemistry with him. He never does his work and makes very bad grades. It is possible he might not get to play next season. We will see though.
  6. I think this is going to give VT a very big black eye. I believe most the president of VT and the police chief will both be forced to resign. The fact that they didn't lock down the campus after the 1st shooting baffles me. That might do them in.
  7. Let us all keep the families of the deceased and those wounded in our prayers. Like someone said this could have happened to any of us, anywhere. It is sad that it takes something like this to show the worst case scenario. My prayers are with any of u that knew any of the victims if there are any of them on here.
  8. Dammit John. I don't want to sound cocky but I know a helluva lot about football. I know when I see a good QB and when I see a mediocre QB. Eric is not as you are giving him credit for. I like McClanahan and I think that he is a pretty good QB, but he made some bad decisions in the pocket too. Part of what makes a great QB is their ability to make something happen when they get into trouble. Bluefield will run the ball and they will do it well. Coach Simon has a nac for turning a small o-line into some good blockers that can produce some pretty big holes for someone to run through.

  10. Well. I think that is interesting. See your definition of knowledge is only saying the good things about our team. You have to look at the good and the bad things about a team. I am going to stop this now. Later man.
  11. John you couldn't even make the baseball team. I heard him. Pretty sure that was a rediculous catch by Ansel. Luckily he can jump like 20 feet in the air.
  12. I have heard either June or July. Maybe earlier.
  13. You are killing me John. We have Shaun Brooks, Marcus Patterson and Jake Lilly in the backfield now. Jake would make a good FB and you know Shaun and Marcus have speed. Who will we have this year that has the ups and speed of Ansel? The biggest problem with Eric is he thinks he is a great quarterback. I had chemistry with him and all he did was brag about himself. That irritates the crap out of me. He is an okay quarterback but again if his decision making doesn't improve, he will have a lot of interceptions. I hate people making claims before they have had a chance to see what a certain teams is going to put on the field in August. Bluefield Beavers = RUN THE BALL.
  14. They have only begun to get "great" recruits. Jason Gwaltney was a top 5 running back coming out and Slaton was a nobody. I have watched tape of Gwaltney and he is not as good as Slaton. I think work ethic is what makes a college football player great. Yes, the athletic ability helps but if you work hard enough you can do anything. It is not all about getting blue-chippers every year.
  15. Already have it pre-ordered.
  16. No. Unless Eric can stop locking in on Ansel every pass play, then you will see a whole lot of interceptions next season. Bluefield High School has never been known as a big passing team. We have been known forever as a power-running team. I don't see that changing next season at all.
  17. The word perennial means that year in and year out those teams are always in the top 25. I can't remember when USC or many schools in football-rich high schools have not been in the top 25. Granted those teams have to be good to get the blue chippers from their states or anywhere across the country.
  18. They can double cover Ponder and take him out of the game. Trust me John, they aren't that good of a combo. Yes, in 2004 we played the #1 AAA team. That was all hard and stuff. But this year every game is going to be very competitive and not as easy to win as you may think. Teams like Shady and Oak Hill aren't going to be push-over teams this year like they have been in the past. I love the Beavers but I can see them going 7-2 or maybe even worse. Richlands is just one of 4 or 5 really good teams we play this year. It will exciting to see what our team can do. You have to remember we lost a lot of experience from last year's sqaud but we have good players coming up to take those spots. Should be an very interesting season.
  19. I hate when people say certain sports are more "competitive" in different states. I think that is a very poor choice of a word. I agree that in different states, there are different caliber teams. I don't think that means it is more competitive. Sports in any state are very competitive and are hard to win championships in any sport, in any state. I think the word competitive is a terrible word to describe what you are talking about.
  20. Pretty sure this is baseball and softball board....why are we discussing basketball scores?
  21. I have been following Bluefield football for 7 years and I know that isn't a long time, but this is the toughest schedule I have seen. Can't wait to see what they can do with it. By the BluefieldRocks...I don't think McClanahan to Ponder will be one of the top 5 QB -> WR combinations in the state. If any one watched any of BHS's games this year, you noticed that the QB only locks in on Ponder. All the defense has to do is cover him and McClanahan will be out of options. We will see if he can step-up his passing in this off-season. I am definately ready for the season now!!
  22. The Big East is a weak football conference. I do agree with Big that the SEC is hands-down the best conference in America. Yes they had 3 teams finish in the top 15, but they did so by finishing the season with good records against weak teams. I love WVU football but they are in a fairly weak conference football wise. They played the other two "good" teams in the Big East and went 1-1 against them. I was wrong when I said the ACC was the 2nd best conference in America but people on here say they are weak because they don't want to admit that VT has a competitive team, year-in and year-out. I do honestly think that if teams like Florida and USC happen to go undefeated and WVU does also, the BCS commitee will pick the teams with the tougher conference schedule. The Big East ranks way below either of those teams conferences and that may cost them a chance at the title. This is of course assuming that WVU will go undefeated. We will have to until the season to find that out.
  23. I think AA competition in VA is harder in some sports than in those sports in WV. There are a whole lot of sports in high school and either way if you can win a state championship in anything, you have accomplished a lot. Give credit where credit is due and don't talk crap about a team that has won a state title....no matter what state it is in.
  24. Here we go. I see an argument about HS sports being so much harder in VA than WV. Please dont start that crap.
