I've extended an invitation to GMan to send me his input into our weekly rankings asking that he send me his list on Sunday morning each week. I believe that he has accepted. Sorry that you felt driven away.

Should their play on the field dictate it, they will be removed during one of the next 16-17 releases of the rankings. Thanks for your feedback. No disrespect taken.

I will certainly admit that we are wrong if the season plays out that way, just as I did last season. I'm quite comfortable with who I write for and where we stand, I have no illusions about that. Chris Horne is a good friend and a great guy who does outstanding work. I like a lot of stuff that Brandon Parker does, as well though I don't know him personally. Haven't ever read 247 so I can't speak to what they do. I'll take your word for it.

Assuming that is correct and assuming that our rankings are an embarrassment and a disaster, which steps should be taken to correct the situation?

I don't keep track of the amount of people that I talk to and I'm not interested in doing the research in order to "win" an internet argument. I've previously noted that SWVA is a blind spot for me as compared to the other areas of the state and I have taken steps and am in the process of correcting that issue. Sorry if you want something more than that, you're not going to get it.

That offer has been extended to GMan on our 2A board and he indicated that he would send his top ten to me weekly. If he chooses to poll people here, that is his prerogative. I don't know his methodology so I can't comment on what his plans are.

The funniest aspect of the entire "Rod Johnson is an idiot" debate is that I 100% agree with you, Mountain Man. During our staff discussions of the 2A rankings, no one was more supportive of putting Richlands in the top ten than me. However, as the "boss" of the site, I do not consider it to be my role to override the opinions of the people whom I trust. The rope is there for my 2A staff, if the rankings are disastrously inaccurate and they've hung themselves, then I'll have to make a more concentrated effort to find better resources.

Yep, it really is me. Thanks for the welcome. I'll try my hardest not to be a "dick", "insane" or any other "verbal joust" that's been tossed my way in this thread so far. LOL I will certainly keep an eye on how you guys think about your teams since my small school guy go it so "wrong" (we won't know that until December). Hopefully, I will learn more about my blind spot. To be honest with you though, I learned long ago not to trust anonymous internet sources. if someone TRULY wants to be helpful, email me and open up a dialogue. That's how I build trust and a relationship with sources. Hopefully, we can improve the VirginiaPreps.com coverage of 276 without all the sniping. Good to be here either way. Funny that you should mention that because as I was just reading through some recaps of Friday night games, I made this note "keep eye on Lebanon, might want to rank" so that I could email the guys who put together Single A rankings. I'll add Powell to that note. I appreciate the input! Thank you!

To be honest, I was not too heavily involved in the Single A rankings, so I can't give you a great answer, but I would bet that it came more out of respect for what the program has done in the past. We ususally send out a survey each Spring to every coach in the state and struggled to get feedback from Single A coaches this year (a rare occurence), so that is why I posted here about improving our rankings.

I live in the Tidewater area. I'm the football editor for VirginiaPreps.com but going to come around here so that I can learn more about the Single A teams because most of our coverage has been focused on AAA ball. Hoping to learn more so coverage gets better. I do get to talk to coaches some so hope that I can bring something to the boards as well.

I personally have not worked much on the Single A teams but wanted to run our top 10 by the group here to see where we got it right and where we got it wrong... 1. Essex 2. William Campbell 3. Gretna 4. Giles 5. Sussex Central 6. Gate City 7. Clintwood 8. Colonial Beach 9. Riverheads 10. Franklin From some little reading that I've done, it seems like we missed on Lebanon. Other input?
