  1. Exactly.

Galax gets two gifts handed to them with the bogus Pass Interference call on the 4th down play that kept their drive alive and then the QB pass was ruled incomplete when he was down to give them one last shot.

And some are looking for another Pass Interference call on the final play.

    Ticks me off.

  2. For those of you who can view a replay of the game, what about the next to the last play of the game where the QB got sacked and then threw it.

It was ruled an incomplete pass so the clock stopped. From my point of view it looked pretty clear his knee was down in which case the clock would have ran out and that last play wouldn't have even been ran.

  3. While at the GW/Clintwood game I stood at the top of the bleachers on the Clintwood side and talked to a former Clintwood player who went on to play at Wake Forest in the mid 80's. We didn't exchange names, we just talked throughout the game. Standing with him was his son and one of his friends. Those two boys go to West Stokes High School in King, NC and were going to play in their state championship game the following week (which was last weekend).

After doing some digging I have found out that they indeed won the state championship. The guy I was talking to was Steve Fleming and his son is the QB and was named MVP of the game. Quite impressive.

  4. wait till clintwood looks up and it isnt a just a one or two pt ballgame but a few tds..sussex coaches must have just not done any preparing..gw couldnt run so what made them think they could..clintwood is a slow wear ya down team..they have not played a balanced attack..14-0 and u call galax the underdog?they had a very good team beat by half time and put subs in by the end of the third..might not be as high scoring but for galax this is still kinda a home game..clintwood has size but so does galax..gw and sussex had for sum reason thought they were gonna run on them..clintwood is huge but when that passin attack zips two or three tds fast..its hard to play catch up..but atleast we showed nothern va we do have talent.

Oh yeah, your opinion has proven spot on every week. LOL

  5. I know two on that crew, Robert Jeter and John Wayne Martin.

John Wayne Martin is from Chilhowie and coached a good football program at Ft. Chiswell for many years. I'm not sure how many but he was there in the 80's.

Robert Jeter is from Chilhowie and does lots of reffing in football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, etc. He does a lot of different sports. He know his stuff.

I don't know who else is on that crew. I'm thinking Bill Clear may be on it. He is from Chilhowie and coached there in the 80's.

  6. I may be wrong but I think the highest seeded team in the east will host and the highest seeded team in the west will host. If Galax wins they will host and either GW or Clintwood will travel. If Honaker wins they will travel and either GW or Clintwood will host.

A poster at virginiapreps echoes what you have said. He says the highest seeded from each division will become the #1 for that division and the other team will become the number #2 for that particular division. And then the #1 for each division will host.

That makes sense I just haven't seen it announced anywhere.

  7. I posted this over at virginiapreps but I'll post it here too for those who don't go to that site.

So when the cross bracketing happens for the semi's; what determines who hosts? If it's who has the higher seed, what if two teams have the same seeding? Does it revert back to who had the most power points? Right now you have

    Western Div.

    Galax #1

    Honaker #4

    GW #2

    Clintwood #3

    Eastern Div

    Sussex Central #1

    Covington #4

    Lunenburg Central #6

    William Campbell #10

I think it's obvious the winner of Lunenburg and William Campbell will be travelling to a Western Div.

    But what about the others?

I swear I have seen a bracket somewhere that shows which of those winners will play each other but I can't find it. It didn't show who/where it will be just which winners will play.

  8. I watched him much of the game especially when he was on offense. As soon as the ball was snapped he was looking for someone to hit. He would hit them square in chest and put them on their back or roll them. Time and time again. Didn't seem very cocky at all either which is nice to see.

I don't care who you are for, it's hard not to like a player who does that.

Clintwood definitely put on a blocking and tackling clinic.

  9. I couldn't stick around after the game to talk to any of the players because the wife was waiting on me to get back so we could head to Boone but I wanted to shake #13's hand. That dude is beast.

I lost count of the number of players he put on their back when he was fullback.

Who is he? Does he plan to play at the next level?

  10. wave316,

If I recall correctly here's how the first part went down. Chilhowie kicked off to Clintwood. Clintwood proceeded to drive down. I want to say maybe they even converted a 4th down on the initial drive. They eventualy score on the first drive and kickoff to Chilhowie.

Chilhowie threw a pass on the first or second play of their first drive that was caught and likely would have been a first down but as the receiver was running for more yardage he was drilled from behind and fumbled. Clintwood recovered. They then moved the ball a few plays and were eventually held to a 4th down. Then came the pass you mention. The pass went right thru the hands of a Chilhowie defender. The Clintwood receiver fell to the ground and the ball fell in his hands. Quite a catch.

It would be interesting to see how the game would have went if Chilhowie had not had that early fumble and if they had not allowed that score on that pass.

Don't get me wrong, Clintwood would still have won and won big but I think those two things just kind of set the tone and it was all over from there.

I was very, very impressed with Clintwood. I had never been to a game over there and had never seen them play and it was definitely something to see.

I think Clintwood beats GW this week. Chilhowie was able to move the ball some on GW earlier in the year but they could not move the ball at all on Clintwood.

    Congrats to Clintwood.

  11. I haven't been hunting in over ten years. The last time I went, I was only a teenager. Recently, I have considered getting back into it, but I do not have a rifle. A friend of mine has offered to sell me a gun. It is a HOWA Model 1500 .308, with a scope, bi-pod, and case, for $250. I will attach a picture that he sent me. Do you all think this would make a good deer hunting rifle? If so, is this a fair price?

I've been looking to pick up a rifle myself and have read alot about this rifle. I haven't heard anything bad about it. Doing some googling you will see this is essentially a Weatherby Vanguard rifle which also has rave reviews.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if I were you.
