It appears that Ponder has really come into his own. I'm sure that his hot streak won't continue but if he can be a steady player for them this year, they will be a tough out.
They play Tuesday night in Brushfork. Who will win and why? I think it will be a good, close game but I believe with Graham's returning experience they will pull out the win. This will be Bluefield's first game of the year so who knows what they will look like. Bluefield is talented but they don't return much experience.
Of course I want to say the Beavers will go into Wayne and win but I don't think it will happen. I do think it will be a close game and the outcome may depend on turnovers. Weather looks nasty from Wednesday on so the field will be sloppy. If Bluefield's line can hold their own against Wayne, we will have a good chance. Good luck to the Beavers and hope that both teams come out injury free and ready for the playoffs. Safe travels to everyone making the trip.
Bluefield won all 4 quarters and with a final score of 86-66. The Beavers played well in stretches but you can tell that they have a few football players that need to get into basketball shape. All in all not a bad scrimmage for the Beavers. Greater Beckley is a good team and will win a bunch of games this year. They have a big kid that can score inside and shoots well from behind the arc. They're guard play is also very good.
I think that Coach Simon and his staff relish the underdog status. It gives them and the team extra motivation. Hopefully they play to their capabilities on Friday. I don't look for the game to be a blow out either way. Should be a good one. I have also seen the posts on wvtailgatecentral and most everyone thinks it will be Wayne winning and claiming the #1 seed going into the playoffs.
It is true. Lykel will be playing for the Beavers this year. Great news for this fine young man and for the Beavers. They will again be the team to beat in AA.
I wish Lykel the very best and I know he will continue to thrive both on the basketball court and in the classroom. Hate to see him go. He is a very polite and well mannered young man. It's a shame that some old men in Parkersburg that know nothing about the situation can make a decision that eventually lead him to have to leave his family and friends just to play basketball. It baffles my mind that they make a life altering decision for this young man but yet they allow a certain school near here to actively recruit the best players from surrounding schools and states and do nothing to punish him or the team.
Thoughts on this game. I haven't heard a lot about Gate City this year. I know historically they are a hard nosed football team. Should this be a close game?
I'm really concerned about this game. Not real sure how much Princeton has improved from last years team. Can't really judge by the Shady game, they are terrible. I think it will be a close game and if it was at Mitchell I would say Bluefield wins but at Princeton, anything can happen. Good luck to both teams on staying injury free. Go Beavers.
Heard that Josh Tunstall transferred to Greenbrier East. If so its a shame. The coach just keeps getting players from wherever he wants. I know people defend him but year after year he just keeps bringing kids in. Something has to be done
