i would just like to point out that this discussion is already more productive than any prior to it lol. mainly because there is actually talking not accusing back and forth. football, and sports in general, are much more enjoyed this way. :-)

i would also like to point out something, everyone says that the officials were favoring Poquoson... Poquoson had 8 penalties to Richlands 12. that is not that big of a difference. and you can ask anyone who has ever played offensive or defensive line in football at any level, there is holding on EVERY PLAY, it all depends if you can keep the refs from seeing it. 14 points taken off the board for poquoson. which both drives later led to turnover on downs, and i wont even get started on the on side kick that didnt go 10 yards before the kicker dove on it.

i am not sure if everyone knows this and i do think we all need to remember what is important here.

the school does have a mascot outfit, i was the mascot when i was a freshman and sophomore, but as i grew to 6'8" junior year i couldnt fit in it anymore, or trust me i would have worn that suit all game. and yes as the mascot i got stuff thrown at me all the time, even from my own classmates.

why cant we all just leave this as, a great game played by both teams, one team had to win the other had to lose. accept and move on with our lives. there is absolutely no chance of a rematch or a reversal so what is the point of all the complaining. Richlands was a very good team as was Poquoson, stop taking away from a well played game with blaming the refs.

i think there is one thing that needs to be noted here, just like in life not everything is fair right down the middle. you have to adapt and overcome. making excuses though only holds you back, it won't change anything. in life there are no do-overs, so don't expect any. just accept what has happened and move on. not to question anyone's parenting tactics at all, but is that what you want kids to learn, that you don't have to accept that you may not have earned it but that you can just make excuses as to why something doesn't go your way?

HAHA you know i believe richland is a good football team, but neither you nor poquoson could hang with the likes of Pheobus High School. let alone every other high school in the nation. believing in your team is one thing, but to think any division 3 school in Virginia is the best in the entire country would be crazy!

at the end of the 4th quarter Richland had the ball and was down only 6 points whose fault is it that you lost? you keep talking about how many penalties and penalty yards you had compared to us, but as i have also read your fans write, that has been status quo for your entire season. maybe instead of blaming the officials for all those penalties you should look at the lack of discipline on the field as to why those penalties occured!

Thank you RichlandsAlum, i dont normally let things like a message board bug me but when he made it sound like he knows me and has had to "deal" with me it ticked me off. and as far as when you were younger, my own classmates would throw stuff at me when i was the mascot so i was happy to get out of there clean. i would like to say that Richlands was one hell of a team and i definately am happy we dont play you all more often. i have complete respect for your team and wish all those boys the best of luck moving on, unless of course we have to play each other again. :-)

i get what your saying Grizzly, but i highly doubt this makes me the town idiot, if you do know me and had to deal with me growing up in Poquoson, you would know that i was a kid who typically stayed out of trouble and never had any real problems with anyone nor have i ever went out of my way to offend anyone. The most annoying thing i ever did was being the mascot while in high school. So while i can respect your opinion of me, i completely disagree with it.

thank you very much for your post, all i wanted to do was harmlessly pump up our fans. if i had thought it would have gotten physical or anything out of line i wouldnt have done it. thats why i dont understand all the criticism.

whoa whoa whoa, what did i do that was so horrible to make me a bad person? my sign was not offensive nor were my actions. so i walked around with a sign, big deal. i did exactly what i wanted to do, get the poquoson fans on their feet, just like i did when i was a student there as the mascot. i would do it again in an instant. there is a reason our fans were cheering me on. if what i did really ruined your day or hurt your feelings, then dont go to any college or pro sporting events. the real idiots are the people who get wasted and start screaming obscenities at refs, coaches and players. i am not saying Richland or Poquoson had fans like that, but come on were my actinos that bad? did i really cross a line?
