  1. The long cleat reference was obviously alluding to a past history of "bending the rules" shall we say....  It is about the act of breaking the rules, not the specific manner in which they were broken.

Jethro, you have more depth than I first realized.  Maybe there is some method to your madness.  You have, with a single post, exposed some significant cognitive issues in a few of the posters.  Nice.

  2. Man i got a lot of miles out of that last post,..lol.

jblank, i'm sorry you don't seem to understand where the ref. to Grundy was in this post...I've already pointed it out to you a few times...I can lead the jackass to water, but can't make it drink.

You guys are just wanting respect, I understand...nothing wrong with that at all.

A good place to start looking for it though would have been all those years you were in a weak 3 team district, weakest in the state as far as that goes, and still couldn't dominate? Basically all you had to do was beat Abingdon every year to all but get in the playoffs and still couldn't pull it off.

Maybe venture over to the visitors side sometime behind the stands and see whats going on, i doubt you will see much from the home side...easy to see why you wouldn't notice anything from over there. I haven't seen much out of adults really, but a lot of student problems over the years...and that's just being honest, not trying to get your goat with that or anything...just the truth...and maybe it's just a few select bad apples here and there, but like i said it's every trip something happens...never fails.  Sorry if you don't believe it. The Hurley basketball game was just pathetic..you guys got ahead for a few min and totally just showed your ass because you thought you had the game won, then ended up losing anyway and then really showed your asses....can't win with class, can't lose with it either.

Let me asked you a direct question.  Why do you obsess on VHS so much?  A Bearcat steal your girl?  Somebody in Bristol make fun of your pocket protector?  Get a speeding ticket on Euclid Avenue?  It is painfully obvious from your incessant derogatory comments that something traumatic happened to you involving Bristol and has damaged your self esteem.   Something Freudian definitely going on in your world. Were I you, I would stay away from Bristol;  you are seeing way too many "boogey men" in the stands.

  3. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, Lance stokes the fire again.  Must be trying to get a quota on posts or something.  Man, get your people straight.  You are combining my posts with jblanks.  Jeez.  I made the post about casting stones to show that some of your fans are far from angels.  We all have those types.  That was the point.  Get it?  I will not repeat what those f******idiots used to say to our players when we visited your place. You totally missed the point.

How about this?  If you have such bad experiences at VHS, do yourself a favor and DON'T COME BACK

Anything to detract from VHS having a little success is my suspicion here.  But as a Gretna fan said last week, "People around here hate us.  They used to kill us in all sports.  They hated us because we sucked.  Now we are really good and people hate us because of that.  Just the way it is".

And this is not a "respect" thing for VHS as many of you are prone to exclaim.  It is what it is

  4. I think coaching is going to be a big factor in that VHS' staff has quite a bit of history with Richland's HC.  Of course, they had the same history when they played earlier and Richlands still won.  But VHS has made a few personnel changes that have paid huge dividends.  I just keep getting this sneaky little feeling that VHS can pull this one out.  This is no knock at all on Richlands HC or his staff.  They have done wonderful things for a decade

Another thing no one has mentioned:  I remember when VHS dropped to "A" a few years ago and a lot of people thought they would walk to the baseball title year in year out (at least on a lot on the message boards).  Didn't happen.  There was a lot of talk that Richlands entry into 2A would give them the same kind of success at this level.  It is hard constantly having the target on your back.  You usually get the oppositions best punch.  Richlands may well win the state and if they do, I think it would be one of the more impressive runs due to all the expectations coming in.

  5. Winning alone won't get you respect either, people might not want to play you at some point because they don't think they can beat you, doesn't mean they respect you.

Of course, I base all of this on just my personal experiences with Va High over the years...to me they have never had an ounce of class. Last time I was there, the student section behind the Hurley bench (basketball game) was taunting Coach Cooper to the point of trying to pick a fight and shouting "USA" whenever Dustin Waynick got the ball because they assumed he was some sort of foreigner, which he's not? I mean WTF? Who does that?

That's just the last example, every time I've been around or involved with anything at Va High it's been something along those lines...I'm sure not "everyone" can be grouped in to one pile obviously, but sure seems like a lot of problems at VHS.

I would be careful about casting those stones...I can give you a whole bunch of first hand experience about "chants" from your fans that are a whole helluva lot worse than "USA".  And they came from grown men and fans and students.  I'd think twice about opening that can or worms on here.

  6. Hey it don't bother me like it does u guys when someone makes predictions that u don't like u guys take exception to it thinking va high is the cream of the crop around here it has always been like that not only in football but basketball and baseball and it gets old hearing about it

To steal your earlier quote, "truth hurt don't it"

  7. And yet when I played Basketball for VHS, we went up against Appalachia and had their students using the "N-word" at our black players, had Gate City fans throw rocks at our bus, and had the air let out of the tires there, but no, we're the ones full of "problems".

It didn't happen just in Appy/GC.  I played for VHS in the late 70's to early 80s.  One particular school of note (starts with a G) had a row of grown men hanging on the fence "counting crows" as we entered the field.  The racial slurs were common place, multiple and for a bunch 16-17 year olds, sometimes scary.

  8. Well,  I see what you were thinking and it makes sense.  It could very well go the way you stated,  i just think that VA High is a good football team and the coaches are doing a good job with them.  I just think it will turn out to be close through the whole game,  but VA does cause me to worry about their speed.  teams with speed have given the blues a hard time.

How come the coaches just started using Kiser at QB,  was there an injury,  or was it just a matter of trying to find more balance in the O ?

Fair enough.  I believe it was more of trying to find balance.  I believe coach Crist is good at putting players were they need to be.  Just took a little while to find #44's slot.

  9. sorry i'm late to respond. Just seems to me you guys don't know how to win without the chest thumping...overall your program has been way down for many years, which, trust me I know the feeling...but once you finally win a playoff game you just don't know how to act.  In contrast to teams like Honaker and Clintwood or Richlands who have been winning for years and you just don't see them doing it.  Don't be so hungry for respect to be given, just earn it.

Puuhhlease....one VHS person jerks your chain a little to rile up folks and all VHS is painted with the same brush?  Interesting...not accurate or fair, but telling none the less.

Hungry for respect?  I haven't taken a snap in over 30 years.  I don't need or require...oh, never mind and good day Dr. Phil!

  10. Maybe canes00 should follow suit.  No issue with Hurricanewarning.  He seems like a genuine fan and I respect folks who support their own.  He did take exception to my comment about C. Handley being the only athlete to come out of Marion and maybe that was uncalled for on my part.  canes00 made me mad with his comments about VHS and I reacted in kind.

But this thread is about the Richands/VHS rematch.  I apologize for my part in taking the focus off that game.

  11. Actually if you'll go back to the beginning of this thread it was the VHS posters who got their panties in a wad over a Marion poster picking Richlands.  Then it escalated.    I don't have a dog in the fight between Marion and VHS posters, but let's get the facts straight.  You VHS guys seem a little thin-skinned.

Actually if you go back to the beginning of this thread...too get the facts straight...it was this fan who got his panties in a wad over a VHS supporters prediction and started the whole thing.  And I quote:

"How can you say cats by 10 the blues are finally healthy the best they have been all year health wise it will be like round 1 close first half then the blues pull away va just dose not have the size to play four quarters with the blues my opinion blues by 14+".

5th post of the thread and first of someone questioning another persons prediction.  No thin skin here.

Maybe the pot calling the kettle black?
  12. Maybe we will, maybe we won't, but considering we beat you head to head and advanced further than you did this year, you have a lot of nerve talking smack about us.

BTW, still waiting for an answer to two questions I posed to you last night.

    1) Why are you such an ass to VHS fans?

    2) What have I personally ever done to you to deserve your attitude?

jblank...I seriously believe it is simply a case of sour grapes at VHS' win over them...and now there are a few VHS fans on here who refuse to allow tomatoes to be thrown without throwing a few back.

  13. Bigrhsfan...here is why I said what I said:  if Richlands comes out and jumps on VHS early, I think that they may be hard to stop as they are used to advancing far in the playoffs and VHS is the new kid on the block.  It is hard to stop a boulder rolling down hill when it gets momentum.  It is easy for a team like VHS to still be basking in the afterglow of a huge win over Gretna.  After all, that is the only signature win in a long time for VHS.  If that is the case, I think Richlands will roll.

But I think if VHS plays close as they did at Gretna, their confidence will increase and maybe doubt creeps in for Richlands.  If the Bearcats stay hungry for more, they will compete well.  And Richlands is way too good to get hammered especially at home and in the playoffs.  That is why I think we either win a squeaker or get waxed.

Like I said back earlier in the season, I always enjoyed playing Richlands, no matter the sport.  Good fans over there.  We used to have a lot of luck v. Richlands back in the late 70's-early 80's but "we ain't in Kansas anymore" and it has been a long time since VHS has been relevant.  I hope for a great game with no injuries.
