BigBlue02 11 Report Share Posted February 16, 2005 Anyone see on the News about the mine fire down Compton mountain at buchanan mine 1? I went by about 11:30 this morning and the smoke wasn't bad came by about 11:30 tonight by the air duct on the 4 lane and smoke was pouring out must be really bad. wavefan64 10 Report Share Posted February 16, 2005 It actaully started around 4:30 Monday evening. It's something, I was on a tour in that mines about 12 hours before it caught on fire.. ..I guess it is just by the grace of god we weren't in there earlier. I believe dad said that it started by a rockfall behind the longwall panel, luckily he wasn't in there working!
