FBDevotee 34 Report Share Posted August 20, 2005 Scores as follows: First varsity game - Christiansburg 24 Powell Valley 7 Second varsity game - Gate City 13 Lebanon 0 Third varsity game - Christiansburg 24 Gate City 0 Final varsity game - Powell Valley 20 Lebanon 7 Analyses: Christiansburg had the best team at the park tonight. They seemed much more seasoned than their opponents and executed extremely well. They have good size and speed. Powell Valley and Gate City both are a clear notch below the Blue Demons at this point but both the Vikings and Blue Devils fielded large squads with potential. It does not appear that Lebanon will be as strong as PV or GC but I think they have a respectable unit as well. I predict all four teams finish the season with winning records. Observer77 12 Report Share Posted August 20, 2005 You can read the postings from the LPD forum on the scrimmages. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend due to circumstances. FBDevotee 34 Author Report Share Posted August 20, 2005 Thanks - I've checked out the LPD forum. I know the posters on that forum who are fans of other LPD teams will want to take a lot of comfort in the fact that C'burg handled the Vikings and Blue Devils easily. But C'burg has a really strong team this season and are legitimate state champion contenders in D3. (The same group of kids put up 42 points against two time state champ Gretna last year!) A squad more on the scale of typical LPD competition was Lebanon (they're no weak program) and both the Devils and Vikings varsity teams beat up on the Pioneers. I'm really hopeful that other LPD squads can content for the title this year but I don't anticipate it. And considering how young the Devils and Vikings are, it will need to be this year for teams like Clintwood and Norton.
