GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted September 28, 2005 Don't see how that can happen in the middle of the season besides, schools don't have a "choice" to play up or down in Divisions...they are split equally within the Regions according to the VHSL Handbook. GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted September 28, 2005 Upon further review of the VHSL website, they were moved to Division 1. Boy does that open a can of worms!!! Now schools can B&M about which Division they are in and get switched at the drop of a hat (or vote). This ruling is really going to stir up stuff but nobody ever accused the VHSL of doing anything smart...
newuser 11 Report Share Posted September 29, 2005 there is a rule that if the biggest school in your division has twice as many students as your school then your school can drop to the next lowest division. Pound has 263 students and TW has 283 while Gate City who is the largest school in D2 in Region D has 581 which is more the twice the size of TW and Pound. That is why they can drop down. Haysi and Clintwood are close to being able to drop down too.
