Guest old_school Report Share Posted February 16, 2006 From the BDT Matt Morris scored 20 points, including four of his 12 free throws in the fourth quarter, as Bland County shocked top-seeded Narrows 71-66 in the Mountain Empire District semifinals at Galax High School. Bland County, which defeated Galax on Monday, will play Grayson County/Fort Chiswell for the tournament title and Region C berth on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Jacob Leighton added 20 points for the Bears (12-11), while Nate Gore had eight rebounds and Morris and Robert Faulkner had five assists apiece. Narrows, which won the regular season and will host a Region C game on Monday, was led by David Thompson and Chastain Akers with 18 points apiece. J.W. Lucas had 12, all from 3-point range.
