PVhas8 10 Report Share Posted October 9, 2006 Sorry about the comment I made about the 2003 Honaker missing out on the playoffs that year. I said that 2004 was the only year Rye Cove was in D2. With a little more research they were also there in 2003. MY BAD. The VHSL system is truly messed up. The 2003 Honaker team or Clintwood team definitely should have been in their before Rye Cove. deerhunter85 10 Report Share Posted October 10, 2006 All 3 teams are Region D. Honaker and Clintwood are division 2. Rye Cove is Division 1. Rye Cove had a good run a few years ago but always had trouble against J.I. Burton and/or Appalachia in the playoffs.
hhstigerfan 12 Report Share Posted October 11, 2006 Honaker ran its own self in the ground that year. A division 2 team can't play John Battle, St. Paul, Rye Cove, and Twin Springs and expect to make the playoffs as a wild card.
PVhas8 10 Author Report Share Posted October 11, 2006 Yes, I know all three are Region D. However, Rye Cove was placed in Division 2 (D2) in 2003 and 2004. Then they went back to Division 1 (D1) in 2005.
clodhopper 10 Report Share Posted October 12, 2006 Yes, but you have to hand it to Doug Hubbard and the AD, they've sure beefed up their schedules since then. They may lose a few more games but they've earned a lot of respect, plus it has been great for their fans, usually a good game every week. My hat's off to Honaker.
