hhstigerfan 12 Report Share Posted October 20, 2007 Each region is split into two halves by enrollment. The biggest half of the schools are in the upper division and the smallest half are in the lower. But there is a rule that says you can play down in a lower division if there is a school twice the size of yours in your region. Which is why Haysi, Castlewood, Clintwood, and Rye Cove were granted permission to play in Division 1 instead of division 2 because Lee High is in Region D and they have double the enrollment of those schools. Its not easier to get into the playoffs if you are in the bigger division, especially in Region D, Region C, and Region IV. 4-6 or 5-5 will normally get you to the playoffs in Division 1 in Region D and Region C, while in division 2 its normal to go 9-1 and miss the playoffs, ask Honaker, Haysi, George Wythe, and Glenvar about that.
