the_truth 10 Report Share Posted December 15, 2008 If and I know that this is a big if: The Titans lose there last two games to Steelers and Colts, the Steelers lose to the browns, and the Colts beat the Jaquars. That makes the Titans, Steelers, and Colts all 12-4. What would the tiebreaker be. The Colts and Titans would have split. The Steelers would have beaten the Titans, while the Colts beat the Steelers. Colts and Steelers would be tied as far as conference records go, one game ahead of the Titans. Who would be the number one seed?
hokie07 11 Report Share Posted December 15, 2008 I don't know if this is correct but it MIGHT go to the divisonional standings for a tie break.
floridabeaver 10 Report Share Posted December 16, 2008 The Titans have clinched the AFC South so the Colts can be nothing more than a wildcard. The Steelers can clinch homefield by winning out otherwise it goes to the Titans.
bluefieldRocks 14 Report Share Posted December 16, 2008 If Miami wins out, will they be able to get into the playoffs? and how could they secure a wildcard?
Deleted Account 5,203 Report Share Posted December 16, 2008 Two answers: 1. If there is a tie within the division, it goes to head-to-head first, then best winning percentage within the division second. Third would be best winning percentage in common games. 2. Miami is in that 3-way tie at 9-5 with the Jets and the Patriots. Miami has a head-to-head matchup with the Jets to knock them down a peg, so that's not too bad. The interesting scenario is with New England. Miami and New England split, so then we go to better records within the division. Assuming the Patriots beat the Bills, the Patriots would have a record of 4-2 against in-division foes. Miami would be 4-2 if they could beat the Jets. It would come down to their record against common opponents, and I'm not sure what that'd be.
bluefieldRocks 14 Report Share Posted December 16, 2008 man...only if the bills could have knocked the jets off yesterday.... stupid roll-out play with 2 min left.... Oh well...
floridabeaver 10 Report Share Posted December 17, 2008 If Miami wins out they win the division, they hold the advantage over the Pats and they would have to beat the Jets in order to win out.
Deleted Account 5,203 Report Share Posted December 18, 2008 If Miami wins out they win the division, they hold the advantage over the Pats and they would have to beat the Jets in order to win out. So Miami has the better record against common opponents, then? Hard to believe it'll go that far down the list.
