buzzsawBeaver 12 Report Share Posted April 3, 2009 for what it's worth, it was on tri state preps since yesterday, as for bluefield perhaps they could contact them about 2010 or beyond, in my opinion it's good to at least have contacts. VHSLhelper 571 Report Share Posted April 4, 2009 That's down in Waynesville (SW of Asheville). They're 3A - about the same size as Carroll Co. or B'burg. The 'Eers surged to 11-2 last year behind the Asheville Citizen-Times All-W(estern) NC Player of the Year, Jr. QB Tyler Brosius. http://tuscolafootball.com/
buzzsawBeaver 12 Author Report Share Posted April 4, 2009 (edited) That would be a long trip for a team from the bluefield area, long but not unreasonably long for a swva team from the bristol area. It seems they play an 11 game schedule to, never heard of that for high school football. Edited April 4, 2009 by buzzsawBeaver
VHSLhelper 571 Report Share Posted April 6, 2009 we do in VA, too - it's called a benefit game here. Down there, it's an endowment game. VA uses it as a scrimmage. NC allows teams to drop 1 game from their record for post-season seeding purposes, so a powerhouse A can play a good 3A or 4A ANYTIME and have it not count. VHSLhelper 571 Report Share Posted April 7, 2009 never knew of that at all before. Learned that stuff a few years ago thanks to Grayson Co. playing Alleghany Co. - regular season game (endowment) for AC, but a scrimmage for Grayson. Patrick Co. & N. Stokes repeated that.
