Some historical numbers from Bluefield's 2009 season

-- Fred Simon has now won four state titles, tied with Coach Gainer for the most in Bluefield history

 

-- Bluefield is now only 14 wins from 600 all-time; all-time record stands at 586-304-23. Depending on the outcome of other teams Bluefield will be somewhere around the Top 200 nationally.

 

-- Bluefield's all-time playoff record is now 51-11, which is a winning percentage of .8225. Depending on the outcome of other states that may Bluefield put close to the Top 10 nationally.

 

-- Bluefield's all-time home playoff record is 26-1. The only loss was the East Bank, 22-14, in the 1996 state semi-finals

 

-- Bluefield's 10th state title puts them only one behind Parkersburg (11) and Cerda Kenova (11) for the most in state history.

 

-- Bluefield is the first "AA" team in state history to beat the top three seeds and three undefeated teams in the same playoffs. Meadow Bridge did the same in "A" in 1988.

I would think it was the most miles travelled for a team and its loyal fan base in the history of the WV Playoffs too. Trips to Sherman, Magnolia, and Wheeling were not easy at all. $36 in tolls alone for the folks who made all three games. Over 1300 miles.

That has to be some sort of record in itself I would think.
