NewHampshireRed 94 Report Share Posted June 19, 2011 I was using wiki (I know great souce of information lol) And noticed Council, Haysi, and Hurley has won this award in basketball. VirginiaPreps 10 Report Share Posted June 21, 2011 Marshall Johnson is a retired AP Sportswriter that covered high school sports for many, many decades. He is considered the High School Sports "Historian" by the VHSL. A true 'gentleman', Johnson is a member of the VHSL/VHSCA Hall of Fame as well as the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. Marshall still lives in Richmond and attends the state basketball tournament when able. I believe the VHSL determines the winner of the sportsmanship award that bears his name. Having had the pleasure of knowing Marshall for several years, it is amazing the amount of high schools sports knowledge and info that this man has!
