In a thrilling come-from-behind victory, Hurley scored 16 unanswered points in the second half and had a crucial stop on a 4th and 1 with just 3 minutes to go en route to beating Ervington 16-13.

This game was exactly the type of test every team needs once a year. Hurley moved the ball well in the first half, but saw three drives inside Ervington's 30 end with a INT, a fumble, and a loss of downs. Meanwhile, Ervington's offense scored twice, the biggest play being a 60+ yard TD run. The ball just wasn't bouncing Hurley's way, and Ervington did a good job moving the ball.

Second half rolls around, it all changes. With a pumped up, bleacher stomping, throat-sore yelling crowd, Hurley marched the ball downfield on there first possession of the 2nd half and put it in the end zone. After holding Ervington to a 3 and out, Hurley got the ball back and proceeded to march down the field again and score another touchdown, finally putting them in the lead.

Ervington was not going to be satisfied with losing that way, as they mounted a fourth quarter drive that seemed destined for the end zone. After churning up some clock, Ervington was faced with a 4th and 1. Hurley stuffed the run in the backfield, ran the clock out, and secured there third victory of the season.

First and foremost, congratulations on the win. The team showed the ability to come back from a deficit and also the ability to hold on to a lead against a late surge.

For some reason, Ervington always shows up strong to play Hurley (I think this was the first time in five years Hurley had beaten Ervington), and give our Rebels fits. Needless to say, Hurley did not give up. They cut out the mistakes, scored points, and won this ballgame.

Hurley travels to Big Creek this coming Friday. This is another "revenge" type game where Hurley, by all rights, should have won last year, but in the end a 2 pt conversion was the difference. Big Creek will have to really step it up because Hurley has moved the ball very well since the Unaka game and the defense is playing very solid, holding teams out of the end zone when it counts most.

Should be another entertaining contest, hopefully one in which Hurley matches last years win total by there fifth game (we're 3-1 right now).

Go Hurley! 3-1 bay-bee! Beat those hoot Owls!

Hurley Rebels!!! What a way to win... Down 13-0 at the half, everything going against you, come out second half (where we have struggled in the past), make some great plays and come home with a win. That's the way to play with some HEART.

Alot of the Hurley community was filled with doubt at the beginning of the season, they asked if Hurley was going to win a single ball game. Hurley FANS if you could have been at the game last night and seen the difference your cheering made you would make it a point to be at every game. Hurley FANS, support your team, you do make a difference. To those few dedicated Rebel fans, this week when you make the trip to Big Creek, bring a couple friends, tell your co-workers to come, tell your sisters and brothers to come, bring the dog if you want. The more support we have the better game we will play.

To the Hurley football players you have the opportunity to do something special this season but it all depends on how hard you practice and how much Heart you have. I dont know what everyone expected out of the Hurley Rebel Football team this season but as of right now, we still haven't put a complete game together and we are winning, so what does that tell you? I know what it tells me and the rest of the REBEL fans, on that one special night when the Hurley Rebel footbal team is clicking on all cylinders the echoes from the CLIFF will be heard from the "Foothills of Heaven to the Bowels of Hell".

When you go into practice this week, bring your A-game, bring it from the moment you step on the field Monday afternoon to the moment you step off the field with yet another win Friday night.

Way to FINISH REBELS!!!!!

1-0 this week...

"One more round"
