Salem football 2004 team

I read in the publication Crunch that the Richlands coach said that this may be Salem's best team. Salem folks appreciate his kind words but I wonder if he is not trying to make the Salem team over confident. This is a good Salem team, but to say it is the best would be stretching things quite a bit. Remember, the Salem teams of 98 and 99 went undefeated (14-0),96 and 2000 also won state championships, and the two State Runner up teams were awfully good. Folks up in Richlands will see a speedy, hard hitting, well coached, but undersized team. This team actually reminds me a lot of the team that Coach Magenbaurer played on years ago. That team made it to the state semis but lost to the eventual state champs Blacksburg, a team that they had beaten earlier in the year. That years team was decimated by injuries (including Coach Mags).
