Salem is only one of only three Regional finalist this year that failed to make the playoffs last year. The Spartans had a fine season at 8-2, but that just wasn’t enough to make it into the tough Division 4 field in region III last year. The computer says you’d better watch out for Salem this year because they’re 9 points better than last year. Richlands also got bumped in the first round last year after a lackluster 6-4 season. Magna Vista did the damage last year with a 20-13 win. Richlands got their revenge on Magna Vista this year and the computer thinks that Richlands is a good 6 points better than last year’s squad.

 

Division 3 features the only team with a chance to repeat. Gretna rolled to a state title last year and they’re 26-0 over the past two years. Most observers and the computer don’t think they are quite as strong as last year, but the Hawks are still the favorites to take the title even if the computer thinks they’d lose to last year’s team by 16 points. Tazewell is the big surprise. The Bulldogs were 1-9 last year, so to reach the State Semis is quite a feat. This year’s Tazewell team is 31 points better than last years and they won’t roll over for Gretna

 

The computer has picked the scores for this week’s games and we’ll see how it does. In the first two rounds of the playoffs the computer went 56-16. Here’s the predictions:

 

Salem 15, Richlands 6

 

Gretna 35, Tazewell 19

i think it is wrong for two reasons:

 

1) Richlands has the depth and talent to beat salem, especially at home.

2) Gretna may actually beat Tazewell worse than that it is picked. i say Gretna 63-13. they are awsome and should win another state title.

I would never put my "trust" in computer predictions anyway. Just thought people may be interested in what the so called "experts" had to say......
