  1. Radfords Redio Broadcast https://www.wradradio.com/amp-events/
  2. What year is the Defensive POY Keith?
  3. Brannon Breeding 92.....or later years....Shane Wicks. 1 of those 2 is my guess.
  4. Arkansas has rehired Boby Petrino, not as HC, but as OC. Only rule is....he's not allowed motorcycles this time. Richlands could replicate and simply put in a "no control over equipment" clause with Vaught.
  5. Class Act and Darn Good Coach and Darn Good Person who put the work in for decades to his community. Special place upstairs in the future for him.
  6. Game of the year. Princeton vs Bridgeport. I like offense. Worst game of the year. Princeton vs Bridgeport. I like defense also. Nickname of the year-Giles County High Grinches Best unis- Patrick Henry GS Best stadium- Riggs Stadium, Appalachia, VA Best Home Field Advantage- Radford and Galax, because visitors have nowhere to set Can't catch a break- Richlands and anyteam in a close game with Narrows Best Helmet- Fort Chiswell POY on SWVA. Radfords L.Clark has to be the guy. Clements was injured some which hurt his numbers and Union's Chandler is just a sophomore. Clark has put up video game stats and defensively, he's a first team All stater. Most underrated player. The offensive lineman from Patrick Henry. When all is said and done, he will play college ball at a higher level than Chandler, Clark, Clements and the rest. He's that good offensively on the line. Major FBS P5 player.
  7. I thought Ryan was referring to Hungry Mother towards Marion or Breaks Interstate Park going towards Kentucky. Don't know if those are an hour from Richlands but sounds about right. Never heard of Lake Witten
  8. Calpreps is sneaky. If you go to the projector and select 2 teams, the default for the pick is a neutral field. But, when you go to their Projections (projections for the weeks upcoming comes which account for home and away team) they then account for exactly that, where the game is played and in a very tight pick, the pick can be different like Galax and Honaker swapping that 1 point for a neutral field compared to a home game for Honaker. Interestingly, they project Graham and Radford as a 31-28 win for Radford for the neutral site (head to head matchup) and for the Projections menu which accounts for where the game is played/home team-no difference in outcome, still a 31-28 win for Radford. Sounds like Galax and Honaker are tight. A while ago, they had Galax behind Honaker by 3 points on a Neutral Field. Galax closed the gap on them and basically has had a 4 point swing over the past week or two. Graham did the same thing with Radford. It was 7 points a week or two ago from going by memory only.
  9. Bingo man. Shoot, I would like to get a new job and become the CEO of an already established Fortune 500 company (not really, but just for clarifying the point) and it would be great. Odds are for most HS coaches in the United States, that isn't going to happen regarding taking over a well-oiled machine and a program currently on or near the top. Those jobs generally are not open because......they are at the top. Union, Graham, Appomattox, Central Woodstock, Riverheads? No openings for a HC for a reason (although Union can surely find someone an assistant spot). If you have a coach interviewing for a job and he makes the statement or eludes to the point that "I'm not really sure about doing a rebuilding job," then this ain't the guy. By the way, I'm certainly not saying this is the case with Davis or that Davis has this opinion. I would bet he certainly doesn't, but that applies to about any coach being interviewed.
  10. Question for Bears fans. Who will be the QB for the Bears next year? Union was young on the line of scrimmage just like Graham was and being that young, the line of scrimmage certainly isn't going to be a problem the next two years. It's typical Union. Who does the Bears have at QB. Just my opinion here and I could be wrong. I think Graham will beat Radford and then go on to win the state title over the winner from the East. Union was inches away....inches away this year. I still believe the 2 best teams in Class 2 Virginia played Saturday. Could be wrong though (as I often am).
  11. Can't have a Superstar hurt in Class 1 or Class 2 and recovery in most situations. Take away CCC and Riverheads is still awesome, but not quite the same. Take away Clark at Radford and Radford is still awesome, but not quite the same. Same for Clements and Graham. Anderson is a stud. Take him away at Union and Union is still awesome, but not quite the same. Go back in history and same thing. What if King William doesn't have the monster Claiborne against Graham, or Cam Allen doesn't play in 2018, Mitchell his senior year at Union out, Scruggs at Appo if he were hurt. It just completely changes the nature and effectiveness of the team, especially at the Class 1 and 2 levels.
  12. This game from my understanding is at Noon, 2 hours before the Virginia games, so a good portion is watchable for those planning to watch Honaker-Galax and/or Radford-Graham which are 2 pm starts.
  13. Graham against Radford needs to be power run heavy Clements Graham like the one at Union. Against Riverheads, Graham needs to be in wide open sets and if you want Clements to run, then run him a lot but from wide formations. Graham needs to get the football in the air a whole lot if it's Riverheads. Force them to cover in the secondary and split them out.
  14. If VHSL calls the shots and Riverheads 100 percent truly believed that, then there would be no need to appeal to play in Class 1. You would have let the chips fall where they may without an appeal.
  15. Should be a good game. I remember in 2018 the GMen were supposed to have a really close contest at Radford only to explode on offense and defense. I would be surprised if Graham won by 21 and same thing for Radford, but I was surprised in 2018. It's easy looking back in hindsight at 2018, but going into that game, that was supposed to be a coin flip kind of game.
  16. Galax is a winner. It's tough to beat winners in close games. It can be done and Galax can be beat close, but they just rise to the occasion year after year in the west. On years they lose, it's a dang battle for any team in the west to get this bunch out of the playoffs. Honaker is good and can do it, but won't come easy. Key to this game imo, Honaker needs to come out red hot an efficient offensively and make the maroon tide play from behind get a 13 point lead. If Galax is right with Honaker in the mid 3rd quarter, bad sign for Honaker.
  17. Why would "Everyone" be happy or unhappy? I think most people are content and "happy" with equality or simply playing in the classification that you truly have in your school.
  18. It's down to a 3 point predicted win by Calpreps after today. Honaker 31, Galax 28. That score tightened quick. Other scores predicted, Essex 24, Galax 22. Honaker 33, Essex 31. Essex 31, Altavista 24.
  19. No contest. Great show by Princeton to make it to the title game, but no way with Martinsburg. Whole other level.
  20. Officiating in this game since talked about. 1. It's NEVER "the entire crew." Its usually only 1, maybe, maybe 2. 2. Graham can't cheat Union, and Union can't cheat Graham. The people of Big Stone Gap didn't gather as a town with the student body and players and coaches and set down with the officials and decide, "we will cheat Graham.' The Union coaches, players, fans have nothing to do with a call on the field regarding "planning." What can happen? You can have one bad apple with bad intent. I stick to that opinion tonight. The back judge, one guy, not "the crew," not "Union," not " Turner," but 1 guy with bad intent. I stand by the post. He tried to influence the games outcome, period. I have my opinion and I'm sticking to it. I didn't write any plural...no officials, not Union, but singular.....the back judge. I rewinded NFHS. Huff got there early in the endzone on the no call pass interference. The Union announcers felt that was the case. At the opposite end, the pass interference call by the same official on Graham that gave Union the extra chance. It was nothing close to pass interference and the Union announcers kind of felt the same. These 2 calls are game changing. Sure, we can pick out the hold or facemask or this or that, but it's about the timing of a flag and where it's thrown and by whom and does it effect or can it greatly effect the outcome? Those 2 calls were huge and they were blatent in my opinion. Overall, the rest of the officials did a good job. It wasn't a horse collar on Clements. The call was correct. The holding call on Graham at the one late in the first half was 50-50, but kind of legit. It happened on the opposite side of the play, didn't effect the play, but the Graham player literally tackled the kid. That's a hold. Just my opinions, and the back judge in this game gets an F. The rest of the crew gets a B. There is no such thing as Team A cheating team B. There is also no such thing as the "Officials cheating," as in....the entire crew. That's rare. But, if you think bad apples don't exist, then better check again. As human beings, we have people in every field or profession that largely have good intentions, but we have a few (very few) bad apples in every profession, field, or past time from Doctors to Lawyers to Judges to Plumbers to Nurses to electricians to preachers to husbands and wives that cheat on one another, and all of a sudden, we think that somehow every official in the world undergoes complete moral clarity and 100% morality for the 48 minutes he takes the field to call a game? Naive....brothers....naive.
  21. Coaches improve like players. It's pretty darn clear both coaches and their coordinators have improved over the years. That's my opinion anyway. What Union was doing offensively with those different sets was high level stuff. It's not just the talent each team has that really causes problems for GC, Tazewell, and Ridgeview to try and close the gap in 2D, but it's the coaching also. It's as clear as day. It was a freaking chess game out there. With Clements, it again shows what a Div 1 player can do to a HS football game. They just flip it on its head. The lick he took from Chandler was one of the harder locks I've seen this year on the long TD run in the first half and he somehow not only didn't go down, but he bolted down the sidelines for a a TD.
  22. Credit Graham. I'm surprised Union lost. 100%. Playing down there and with Union's ability on the LOS and athletically, very shocked. I thought the game would get away from Graham and Union would win by 13 to 16 points. Going to be much more Union and Graham action in the next 2 years..or more
