Is Christiansburg suppose to be pretty decent this year?

They are a 4A school they should beat a 1A team with ease. However they are very bad and I don't see them beating Giles imo. I think a similiar result to last year score wise. Giles will score 20+ on them so it comes down to will Blacksburg be able to score with them imo.

Who will make it out of the East? Riverheads the clear Favorite?

From the other post it looks like 30 to 35ish on the team. I would bet they move a few up from the 9th grade as well. I saw a few skilled backs last year on that 8th -9th grade team from them as well. Of course they could have moved or just not hit the weight room etc and fall flat.

Giles has potential but tough schedule for sure. The numbers are actually 30-35 I saw on the other post. I'm not sure if he is coming up to varsity or even if he is still at Giles but i saw a nice looking running back on their JV squad last year. Also a few other nice skill players that were on that squad. If they are still enrolled at Giles I could see them take a step up this year or next.

Ouch hard to be successful with that turnout. They will be wore out by the 3rd quarter playing both ways. Injuries would be very bad with numbers like that. That is very pitiful considering other 1A schools with less enrollment have better numbers than that.

What does Narrows have this year? Do they return that phenomenal kid that played WR?

Anyone know Giles numbers? Back when I was in school consistently had over 40. Seems that depth has been an issue over the last few years. Odd that other schools of the same size and some even smaller have way more kids coming out and higher numbers.

Giles could be decent this year. It wouldn't surprise me they had a decent JV last year.

UPDATED based on new info. Finishing order of the Mountain Empire District. 2,3 and 4 three way tie 1.Grayson Co. 2. Giles 3. GW 4. Galax 5. Fort Chiswell 6. Auburn

Riverheads wins 2A state championship. Essex wins 1A Giles doesn't get to .500 for second straight season. 4-6 Grayson Co is not as good as predicted. 7-3 Galax has a down year. 5-5

I guess we will find out. I just don't see them being within 2 scores of teams like Graham or Appo. Top 5 is possible though.

Riverheads will not dominate 2A. They will make the playoffs of course but the days of winning multiple state championships are over.

Are the state championship games being broadcast on NFHS? Before I purchase I want to make sure.

Riverheads cannot compete with the top teams in 2A. They will find out soon enough when they get to play Appomattox, Graham, Glenvar..etc.. They been bullying around those smaller 1A teams for too long.

Riverheads held an explosive Essex team to 8. I dont see GW scoring at all. Riverheads by 3+ touchdowns.

I'm taking Graham in this one. I think they are 2 touchdowns better easily if they don't turn it over or have a ton of penalties.
