Talking about Colley in the above post. I always mess it up when I try to quote on here.

I went back to a Bristol Herald article from the end of 2013 that said 242 and added the 11 from his last year for 253 . What about Doug Hubbard? I thought he was up in that range as well?

James Colley won somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 games at Haysi.

I heard Rankin (and his strength coach) speak at a clinic last year. He's awesome.

Sometimes it's hard to schedule who you would want. Ridgeview scheduled Jenkins Ky. because they got a late start on the scheduling due to the hold up of announcing the coach/athletic director after consolidation even though every week at the end of last year the newspaper articles about Haysi mentioned that James Colley wasn't going to coach anymore. I'm sure not many teams are standing in line to schedule Union.

After the way they looked against Ridgeview I would have a hard time picking against Giles. Looked like a team on a mission.

RV was rolling for sure. They were able to push Grundy around all night. The Wave had a halfback out but the other, Mcnutt (spelling?) looked real good at times. He has worked out with me before, he's strong.

I actually hear more complaining about play calls, especially early on in the year from the Clintwood fans. At least they seem to be louder. A lot of Haysi fans complained about Coach Colley throwing too much as did I. However the play calling early on at RV was god awful. Coach Mullins has adapted somewhat and the kids have performed better also. Now with all that said , I like Rick and mean no disrespect, just my humble opinion.

I didn't question or address what anyone's motives were or if it was right or wrong that they were transferring. I personally don't care. I love the only boy I know that has transferred and wish him the best. I just said that some players are a little fired up because some are threatening to or already have transferred. This is not another one of the million or so arguments on here accusing anyone of anything just an observation on the game.

Ridgeview probably wins this one, although I don't think they are good enough to blow anybody out. One interesting note to this will be transfers. One player has already left RV for Grundy and there are rumors a couple of others may follow. I think some of those decisions may have been made while Grundy was rolling against lesser competition while RV was reeling against a monster early schedule. Some of the players have taken it as kind of a slap in the face. It may add a little intensity to the game.

I think the coaches handle the weight room at ridgeview. Mainly coach Grant and Mullins.

 

Gotta get them in the weightroom! Any idea who will be handling the strength program?

I'm sure the VHSL won't. Both priciples can get together as previously stated. Saw that last year, although one principal wouldn't agree.

I knew Haysi was in the LPD in the '60s because they won a district title in basketball. Not sure how that worked with football. They did have a team at that time though. Didn't realize there was a district between LPD and BDD though.

Wade Turner will be back this week.

I thought Haysi went from the Lonesome Pine to the BDD in 79. When they did division one and division two they were division two until 2007. (I think)

I think this will be a test for that vaunted Raiders line. Haven't seen them this year, but heard a lot of the same stuff about them last year. They lacked a lot of nasty. Would love to see this one.

I don't think there is anybody that doesn't respect GC. This was still a huge win for a struggling Ridgeview, especially after last weeks heartbreaker with Lee where a referee cost them a win by spotting the wrong player down. Play calling was much improved. Good step in the right direction.

Watched it frame by frame and didn't see a fumble. Doesn't matter though. I thought the interesting thing here is the refs response that he thought the halfback had the ball and spotted according to that. A couple of guys blocked this well, a couple of others not so much. If you don't won't to put that in the refs hands execute better I guess.

Can't tell conclusively when his knee actually went down, but it appeared to me that the ball fell on the goal line and then he bounced another yard or so. I guess Lee finally got a break on a controversial call. I would have called it a TD.

Just saw the video. Terrible call late in the 4th quarter, Ridgeview went for the touchdown on 4th and goal from about the 2. Referee called the runner down, video shows a clear score. RUMOR is that the clip was sent to the head official with the question how is this not a TD. The guy told him he was watching the wrong back. He thought the halfback had the ball when the fullback did. He called the wrong player down while the fullback lay a yard in the end zone with the ball. Not sour grapes just interesting info.
