  1. If Eastside follows the same script that Parry McCluer did in the playoffs to Hurley last year and Grundy did to Hurley this year by running McNutt and Fiser to the left side of their offensive line over and over, then Eastside should win. The coaching staff seems to be incapable of making in game adjustments. It never occurred to them that they might want to have the defensive end to take a wider stance and move the outside linebacker up near the line of scrimmage when they are getting burned on jet sweeps to that side. Nor does it seem like they want to bring their defensive backs up to help in run support. A sloth running the ball could go faster than what I have seen this year on Hurley's offensive side. I realize that there is no Brady Justice or Zach Lester to bail them out this year, but it should take more than a tag you're it tap to keep from getting fumblitis.
  2. Hopefully, this won't happen for many years or ever. I would guess that most parents in Hurley would refuse to send their children to Poplar Gap, which is where the new school would most likely be built. It would be much quicker for most of them to go to Phelps High School.
  3. Tazewell's enrollment has them listed as 583 students on the VHSL. That is for grades 9-12.
  4. Pike County Central's enrollment is 706 students in 9th-12th grades according to what I just read on their page.
  5. Virginia does their enrollment for classification based on 9th-12th population. However, junior varsity is 8th-10th and varsity is 10th-12th. There is a limit on the amount of time that a junior varsity participant can play in a varsity game in Virginia. That must not be a stipulation in the state of Kentucky because several of the junior varsity basketball team members for Phelps High School played the majority of the varsity basketball game against Hurley this year.
  6. It is listed as a 9th-12th grade school when I checked.
  7. I checked their enrollment, and it has them currently listed as 706 students. You're right. They would be at the high end of the scale of 2A schools in Virginia.
  8. The only benefit then is it's a relatively short distance to play each other, but we would have come out just the same to have scheduled another 2A Virginia school or East Ridge High School in Kentucky.
  9. Hurley plays Pike County Central on 9/8/2017. According to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association's official website, Pike County Central is classified as a 3A school, but on the VHSL, Pike County Central is listed as a 2A school on the master schedule. That could be a factor in points at the end of the season which might decide a home field game versus an away game when the playoffs come if Hurley is in the post season. Why doesn't the VHSL have them listed as a 3A school?
  10. Does anyone know if there is an open football camp at Pikeville beginning tomorrow and lasting through Friday? If so, what time does it begin?
  11. Typically, most skill position players on the football team run track. If this fastest kid that Richlands has ever had runs track, then I assure that that Graham, Tazewell, etc. have nothing to worry about because Hurley's 9th grade relay team smoked Richlands at the track meet held at Grundy this past Wednesday. It wasn't even close and we're talking about 9th graders.
  12. He has no grandiose idea that he's going to be a famous body builder. He just wants to be bigger for his position. He's doing everything the right way and still can't achieve the personal goals that he's set for himself. Is it too much to ask that everything be done the right way by everyone who plays? That's where the VHSL should intervene.
  13. My kid busts his arse sometimes doing up to 4 separate workouts a day. He's extremely athletic and has been trying very hard to put on muscle mass. He eats right, drinks Muscle Milk, takes vitamins, works out on the Bowflex, and still can't gain mass. just definition. I see some kids that I know at other schools that "blow up" in size. The VHSL should make it mandatory to have multiple screening throughout the school year to ensure that everyone is on a fair playing field.
  14. Mandatory means that everyone must do it. Random means that you just pick and choose.
  15. One says that it is random and one says that it is mandatory. Which one is it?
  16. I am in favor of mandatory testing of all athletes, not just random testing when someone says that he or she suspects someone. I don't think that it should come at the cost of taxpayers, but it should come out of the pockets of the parents whose kids want to play. Since it isn't mandatory in Tazewell County, if I was a "dirty" student athlete in Buchanan County and knew that it might become mandatory to be tested, then I guess I should cross county lines to play at a school in Tazewell County. Tazewell County should make it mandatory and not just random.
  17. Buchanan County has mentioned doing testing recently. I was just curious if it is mandatory in Tazewell County because that is not part of the normal screening process for a physical to play ball.
  18. If anyone knows of any good, upcoming high school skills football camps (May-early July) within southwestern VA, eastern KY, northeast TN, or southern WV, I would appreciate a listing of the dates and times if you have that info available.
  19. I'm ecstatic that I will get my very own snowflake. Oh my, there's nothing that Santa could bring me for Christmas that would make me any happier than a snowflake from you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will cherish it forever. Wow, Graham played 4 nonconference 2A schools, and you want a pat on the back for doing what you should be doing to begin with. Pot meet kettle. You started the name calling to begin with by calling me a liar when I wasn't. Secondly, I could care less about whether or not you believe in any of the sincerity of anything that I post. How did you ever guess that I had such deep-seeded jealousy for you? You've figured me out. I guess it has to do with all the times that I have replied back to your posts when you have stated something. Oh wait, my bad, I don't recall ever replying back directly to you on any posts by sticking my nose into something that was of no concern to me.
  20. I typed it exactly as I intended for it to be, dipshit. No, cowardice would be schools such as Twin Springs, Castlewood, Phelps, Holston, Eastside, 2A Shelby Valley, and 2A River View all of whom are larger than Hurley backing out of renewing the contracts. I wouldn't call scheduling replacement schools in 2A Tazewell and 3A Pike County Central as cowardice. Unlike your school, we don't play 3 schools in a season who are a classification below us to try to pad our win schedule. Hurley does more with less than any school in this state, period. As for my absence during the period of time that you are referring to, yeah, I wasn't feeling it on Saturday. I had a kid with pneumonia to take care of, and amazingly, we do celebrate together as a family during Thanksgiving time. I know that you think that you are the center of the universe and everyone is supposed to come running at your beckoning call when it is convenient for you, but that message never made it to my desk and went down the paper shredder. Ryan and Crappy, keep sniffing.
  21. Mr. Supposedly Smartest Person on the Board Wahoo by his adoring GMen fan boys, (lmao) I have basically come to the conclusion that sarcasm is a thing that is useless with the intellect of the vast majority on this board because I assure that I know that it is technically called hand-foot-and-mouth disease if I had intended it to be foot-and-mouth disease. However, I did not intend to say it foot-and-mouth disease. I intended it exactly as I typed it to be sarcastic. I hope that you have heard of the saying, "You put your foot in your mouth" and know what the meaning of that idiom means without me having to explain it to you. I used a variation of that idiom, but I know it is useless to try to explain it to you. Please reply back, so your adoring GMen fan boys can hit the "like this" button to sniff your jock.
  22. Crappy, you make #3 who doesn't get the context of the original post. P._Vitale just feels the need to stick his nose into anything that I post and suffered from a case of foot in mouth disease on this one.
  23. Please tell me that you 2 aren';t so stupid that you couldn't get the sarcasm in that statement that was intended for Master Blaster and his enormous amount of GW vs Whoever threads. That's so sad that I have to explain that one to you, really sad.
  24. Who ya got? I think GW by a 100 at least.
  25. A J-O-B! What is that? I truly wish that alarm clock beside my bed wouldn't keep going off at 5:30 each morning. I can't figure out why it keeps on doing that.
