Allow me to tweak your analogy. You, a private citizen in your own car paid for with private funds give a person a free ride.  That person's right to free speech is not protected inside your private car.  You, as the car owner, have the right to shut down their speech and remove them from your car for whatever reason you decide.  Once outside your car and on the street, the person can exercise their right to free speech.

You just made a new set of rules, just like the websites do, the point is I can't hurt people with my car.  I didn't give anyone a ride.  Especially a free one.

There is no right of free speech when a person voluntarily becomes a member of a PRIVATE website owned by a PRIVATE citizen using his PRIVATE funds.

I own a car and it is my private car and i am a private citizen, I bought it with my private funds as well, but I can't run people over with it because i don't like their view of something.  Well I could but I would go to jail.

  3. Here is a great example, it happened just this morning on this website by an administrator.

The white kid had mad skillz.

Does it really matter what color he was?  And, stop being racist on my board.  Do it again and you are gone...

There is nothing wrong or racist with what "HowTheWestWasWon2017," said.  But look at language the administrator uses, makes an accusation of racism, makes clear that it is "his/her" board.  And threatens the user with a comment that can be taken several different ways. "Do it again or you are gone?"   You choose who uses the abusive language, the administrator or the User?  Not very professional at all.  These type comments are used to strike fear, "Do it again or your gone."  If the administrator would like I can go through the files and find where "white kid" and "black kid" has been used multiple times and not a word is said.  When the rules change on a daily basis and enforced on some and over looked with others is the exact reason the government is making websites answer for their threats on users. The administrator also chooses to do this for everyone to see to extend the humiliation to bullying.

P.S. This "Kid"  HowTheWestWasWon2017 was talking about was Mac McClung and HowTheWestWasWon2017 only had good things to say.  Yet he gets accused, threatened and bullied for nothing.

The owner may not like it, but you can say it !

So if you block people from your facebook , twitter or instagram account or other website just because you own it and do not like their position, you could be violating their right to speak by your block.  But social media users and moderators love the power of " blocking and banning."   Let's see what happens?

"Judge Cacheris stated in his opinion: “The First Amendment applies to speech on social media with no less force than in other types of forums. The Court cannot treat a First Amendment violation in this vital, developing forum differently than it would elsewhere simply because technology has made it easier to find alternative channels through which to disseminate one’s message…” and “The suppression of critical commentary regarding elected officials is the quintessential form of viewpoint discrimination against which the First Amendment guards…” The Judge further opined that the Facebook page is a forum for protected, free speech under both federal and Virginia state law."  Ignore and block tabs provided to users for use on other users on the same website shows that the website has a tendency to suppress the right to speak.

  5. The first amendment does not protect what you say—only your right to speak. This means that you can say what you choose, but the nature of free speech is that others are free to say what they choose as well, even if it means disagreeing with you or mounting a campaign of people to respond to you. Keep these points in mind as we discuss how your freedom of speech plays out on the internet.

On the other hand, his primary defensive responsibility scored 45 points.  That will work against Campbell; it won’t work against Xavier, Butler, Villanova...

https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2018-11-13/college-basketball-chris-clemons-campbell-nations-returning  .... Xavier , Butler, and Villanova don't have the returning nations top scorer.   Clemons goes off for 44 here against another team.  https://clips.clippit.tv/vxzdxb/720.mp4

Yeah, Chris Clemons is only 5-9. But he’s the tallest man in town if he stands on his box scores. From the 85 games in a row he’s scored in double figures, to the 65 times he has broken 20 points, to the 24.9 average he had as a junior, which made him the top scorer in the nation returning this season.

And, yeah, it is a little different, how he sets up for his free throws off-center, not far from where the circle meets the stripe, like a kicker lining up for a field goal attempt on the right hash mark. But he’s a career 84-percent shooter from the line, so you want to be the one to tell him to change?   Don't look like anyone is guarding him.

Of course not, but I did look at a few possessions.  Unless there was a switch off a screen, McClung’s primary responsibility (and the responsibility of the guards who spelled him) was Clemons, and Clemons torched Georgetown to a level where Campbell almost won.  Obviously, there will be a few possessions where the defense was passable, but overall it is still lacking, and 6 points in 23 minutes isn’t exactly worth the tradeoff.

He still has a very long way to go on that end to show defensive continuity.  I know that’s not going to be met kindly on this board (see Milo’s flood of posts), but it’s objectively verifiable.

I see what your saying, a reason that Campbell hung around is that Mac gave up 45 points.  I promise you he knows this.  And I agree that 6 points , 1 assist and 1 rebound is not a good trade off for 23 minutes.  I am going to give him more than 6 games to prove he can tighten the defense up though.  I don't think he has a "very long way to go." as you said.  As for my flooding, take a look at the activity board, you're the leader.  This coming from someone who has 11,634 posts, and this is factually verifiable.

Oh he may take more than a full year to get better...but maybe he will, maybe he won't time will tell

Very true, he could very well be a 3 or 4 year player.  He has not had the big game yet like Zion, R.J. and others.  I have a hunch that he is the type player that could break out anytime.  As you said , "time will tell."

  10. Just now, Hokiebird7 said:

Did you chart entire game to see how many points he gave up? Lol

Actually that stat comes out pretty quick Hokiebird7  but the only people who use it are the haters, Players in college and the NBA get scored on. on a regular basis. for a freshman D-1 player , they are all in a learning process.  His defense does need some work but that does not neglect all the good things he is doing, My goodness he has less than 10 D-1 games under his belt. By the end of the season if it's still going on, I would question it, but not now.

I think Duke wins the title, but.......Gonzaga was without it's guard and best player against Duke and had a 14 point lead at one point.  The one issue with a young team like that is the ability to play defense for 40 minutes.  Duke played for 10.  Can they play for 40?

I think it was a great lesson for that young team. I'd like to have a dollar for each time i have seen Coach Krzyzewski yell "RUN."
