  1. Im from BSG but i work for a company out of appo, so im kind of torn. I hope Union wins, but they are going to have to play old school 80s and 90s pv and appy smashmouth mean streak slobber knocking ugly football. Bears need to be meaner ugiler and grittier than appo. Appo is strong fast and makes few mistakes. Time for the bears to call on old school tom turner heart, phil robbins game planning barry jones heart and coach riggs grit. GET EM BEARS

  2. not Looking to leave out Bluefield. Just curious as to why if someone chooses to not name them as there number 1 they are concidered trolls. That’s the topic that made me decide to post and pick a team that clearly would beat Bluefield as my number 1.

  3. I see your point and to that point where is Bluefield WVA on this map?  Hmm I don’t see it. Education map may have it as “western VA” but you need to read up on Roanoke the star city of southwest Virginia. I do not doubt that your map is accurate but I ask you concede that Salem is a southwest Virginia city and there team is a SWVA football team. Clearly Salem is in SWVA. Now with that said I may be a smart a$$ and add Pulaski to my top ten. They would dominate any team y’all mention as well they are clearly in your map’s district. Now with that said, Salem is my number 1 SWVA team and will be until one of the other SWVA or southern WVa teams beat them

  4. I feel like we should give the Roanoke valley a look. To include them is not like the SEC Network including vt uva and wvu. To not include them is like the SEC Network not including Bama because they win too much. Clearly a team within our geographical area and community interest area (closer to Radford than over half of the other teams). I respect y’alls opinion to not include them but if I do please understand it is because I feel they are SWVA and one hell of a program that people SouthWest of here should hear about. Salem reminds me of the gate city blues devils and Powell valley Vikings of old. A powerful team that needs recognition

St Charles, whoooo, ruff country,as a visitor one should get out before dark, kinda like wrong turn WV. To say rules are rules ....well I personally think Greenville Tn is 2 or 3 steps above all the teams here but again not in the coverage area, with 4 div. 1 commits

I worked in the Knoxville area for 5 years. I have a fond love for NETN football as well. Greeneville would beat any team in SWVA except Salem. I’d play money on Salem beating most schools from Knoxville to Roanoke by a margin of two tds. Yes Blacksburg beat them last year on an amazing game played by Cloe Beck but I feel even the green devils would fall victim to the Spartans of Salem

  6. I love forum arguments. They are always so interesting. I will say this though, SWVA is a region of the state of Virginia geographically marked by borders to NC, WVA, KY, TN and Campbell Co VA. (Bedford is in Campbell and is considered SWVA but at the Lynchburg City Line starts Central VA). I understand that our forum is based more on communities that share common interest more than geographical regions but I feel that if teams like Bluefield WVA are part of our common interest then maybe we should open our minds up to the possibility of a team within our geographical region be covered as well. Roanoke co schools have wonderful football programs but the fan base isn’t what we have down home. I’d be safe in saying that more people turn out to a Grayson co game than do to a cave spring or Patrick Henry (Roanoke city school) game. Let’s show these schools some love. Therefore I ask we include Salem Glenvar William Byrd Northside cave spring. Hidden valley William Fleming and Patrick Henry in our discussions. These are SWVA schools and despite Salem most teams down home would play a good game against any of these schools

  7. I haven’t posted in a while but I have to weigh in on something. Blue field WVA get unanimous number 1 votes constantly but I have to ask this. Southwest VA and Southern WVA gets mentioned on here but nobody is talking about Salem Spartans. Roanoke Co (I live in Roanoke Co) is SouthWest Virginia. Im pretty sure nobody in the area could handle the Spartans. 3 time back to back to back state champs. I’d lay money on the fact they would beat Bluefield

  8. Butch Jones and staff were sang good recruiters as well.  They could pull high level players but they are proof that if you don't get kids that fit your system it will never work.   You can have 22 starting 5 star kids but if they don't fit your system or don't mesh with each other it won't help.

The reason Currie was fired is because he was insubordinate. He was called to meeting with the President of the university and he was in California. When ask why he was in California, he said he was signing a football coach ( Leach), but he was suppose to be in Knoxville. The kicker is he used a Kansas State booster's plane so no one would know where he was. That is the only reason he is gone. It sounds like there will be a decision by either late tonight or early Thursday. They have a big recruiting weekend scheduled for this weekend and they have to have a coach at least by then. Whoever it is their are plenty of quality assistants floating around due to all the coaching upheaval. It is a mess right now, but not as big a mess as some think..

Currie was a wild card. He pulled a lot of crazy moves like the Mike Leach incident in his last couple of weeks as AD. In my opinion, Fulmer was put in to 1 appease the fan base (which clearly runs the show in Knoxville) 2 to try to bring back some pride to a program that has been up and down since he left. Can he do it? Only time will tell, but one thing that will help him is if the Knoxville media shuts there pie holes and let him find a coach before they announce the coach. Too many times the media down here in Kvegas stirs more poop than needed.

  10. Im telling ya man Richlands will be one tough team next year. They are every year but I feel that 2018 will there season.

They will have a outstanding running back next year in Booker. He was only a sophomore this year. Returning Almost everyone except a few linemen, Johnson, and Daniel Brown. I believe Medley, the Casey brothers, altizer, absher who were all freshman and sophomore who got thrown to the wolfs and a few others will take a huge step this off season. There is a few kids coming up from the Middle School team who I am very excited about, the Newberry kid may very will be the next Caleb Jennings. Also a great Wide Out who in a few years may be excellent also.

I still maintain that Fulmer doesn’t have the intelligence, wherewithal, and personality to run a $110M athletic department.  Very different matters to run a football team and run an entire athletics department.

I do get that. He is a football minded guy and if he isn't careful to remember there are other sports at UT than just football he wont last long. I like the pick at AD cause I feel like it will end up bad and expose to the rest of the world just how much influence the Haslems have on that school. I don't think it is known outside of the UT circle just how powerful they are at that school. You hear about them but working in the area I have seen first hand the power they hold and it is not good for the program and school.

  12. Yall need to read all the articles of Fuente declining to even speak to other teams. I know it must hurt to see a small non SEC school make it to its 25th consecutive bowl game and only have 2 different head coaches in the past 30 years. UT putting Fulmer at AD is a good move! He and Big Jim Haslem (who runs UT football) do not see eye to eye and Fulmer will have a hard row to hoe if he isn't careful. I happen to really like Fulmer, and if anyone can handle the UT Booster politics it is him. Either way, leading up to Friday, UT was and if they don't make a good hire is the laughing stock of NCAA football. Horrible handling of every situation from the Chancellor down IMO.

I agree... special teams was the difference.

Special teams have killed me all year long. Kickoffs being ran back to midfield, punts being short and bad bounces, lack of hitting and tackling on special teams. To me, you have to make those plays count. Maybe now coaches will see that and work on it for future teams. Good luck to Appo in the state game.

It's hard to say. I know there were more than 6,000 at the Lee/PV game in '89. That is confirmed, and it felt like there were more at the PV/APPY game.

I was at the PV/Appy game and I remember people being packed in at least 10 to 15 rows deep around the track. It was crazy packed. I hope tomorrow blows both of those games out on attendance! I would love to see numbers of 12,000 or more there!
