  1. Not exactly a fair assessment because the yards you speak of against Tazewell backups were from the Giles backups as well. I didn't see a single series of Giles starters against a backup defense.
  2. Same ...glad to see you actually made it to the game tonight. Maybe you'll be a little more informed during discussion this week
  3. I went to college to play football not to get a teaching degree that qualifies you to be a coach. Maybe you should with your 1 year of j.v football experience??!?! You claim to know an awful lot for someone who didn't even play hahahaha 😂
  4. Giles had a 40 year dynasty. Not likely to turn it around anytime soon unless something major changes. PSA This Giles team beat Narrows in JV and Narrows had a healthy Crigger to complement Pruett. If Crigger wasn't injured and played against Giles, there's little doubt that Narrows wins by 2-3 TDs this year. J.V. doesn't translate into varsity success unfortunately when nobody is giving the kids the resources to be successful
  5. Auburn, Parry McClure, Grayson, Parry McClure and Covington......? Not entirely sure your angle with this question
  6. Couldn't the same thing be said about Giles being over as soon as the first practice starts? One playoff win since 2018 and beat a team that didn't even have a winning record for that. (Eastern Montgomery 5-5 2021) In the same time frame Narrows has 5 playoff wins and have went to the regional finals. P.S. that's 4 more!
  7. The denial is strong in here
  8. 23-32 record since 2018 is "Bullbutter" everything else is up for debate id say
  9. Interesting enough that Giles J.V. success has a very low translation rate to varsity?!?! At J.V age its about natural talent and once they get passed by every other school that has emplemented an actual off-season program, the excuses get made about the kids, the parents, the weather, etc etc etc.....it shouldn't be that hard to figure out what Giles problem is at this point
  10. Wow, this is a lot to take in as I'm late to the conversation. My experiences with Giles is the following and I'm a fairly trusted source as I have talked to numerous players in my living room for 5 years now along with my own personal observations. My first observation was the off-season workouts were almost non-existent compared to our competition and was told "it's a family" thing or whatever excuse they used to not have a decent off-season program which hasn't really improved in 5 years. Thing's progressed through j.v. and I have zero negative to say about the AD or his staff during the JV years. J.v. years didn't exactly last long as ...varsity was really struggling with numbers and talent. Varsity football is a train wreck at Giles. Here's the list of problems that I know personally exists... off-season program is terrible and nobody on staff is willing to take charge and hold kids accountable, the kids don't like or respect a coach that doesn't coach but only belittles them, Xs and Os are not as good as they once were, kids play different positions every single week and are yelled at because they don't always know what to do or have practiced the position. These are my opinions.. participation is probably held back by the fact that the kids don't like the coach and Giles has losing records for the last 5 out of 6 years. Losing breeds losing and it's a vicious cycle. Once the culture changes it's impossible without a major change to right the ship. I've read on FB the senior spotlights for players for years and they all mention every coach making an impact on them except the head coach?! It's no secret which coaches the players respect. Play calling has become exceptionally bad and it's telegraphed at this point, Clock management is terrible, and plays are called it seems to give certain players the ball regardless of whether they have the "hot hand" or not. Not sure what the parents have to do with anything as all I've seen is unwaivering support for a busted program. The only thing negative I would say about the AD is the scheduling absolutely puts Giles at a disadvantage scheduling teams year after year we have absolutely no business playing. Giles needs a hungry coach that wants to win above all things and plain and simply we don't have. In fact, the believe he handcuffs some of his staff that wants these things. RIP for a long standing dominant program that was once envied by the entire state.
  11. Giles gets blown out again 42-14
  12. To be honest, that's a tough question. What's realistic to you and I may not be for the ones involved. Who would even want it would be a solid question? I would definitely want Giles to bring in one of their own and keep old traditions. There's current staff that may not even keep the single wing. I would want someone who has the drive to perform the job the way it has to be done to bring the program back to its glory days. The position is almost a full time job in and of itself. With all that being said and I know there's a lot on the man's plate but I would solidly select Ricky Cook as Williams successor if he wanted the position. He is the most respected coach currently on staff and has the knowledge and the people skills that would translate into a great coach. The kids would lay down and die for the dude and that breeds success. I also know the extra things he does currently and would bring a level of dedication to the team that has lacked for several years. On another note, his Dad was probably the greatest coach I ever played for from little League throughout college. The nut didn't fall far from the tree from what I've seen and heard from current and former players
  13. Would Never happen but Nathan Tanner. He's absolutely killing it for Parkersburg South up in West Virginia. That would be my dream pick to take over Giles but like I said.... would never happen.
  14. A man gets over 150 wins in that era and without a 10 game season or extra wins in playoffs definitely deserves.his name in the hat.
  15. 60minuteman was correct unless I'm overlooking someone. If you're thinking about Ricky, he graduated a couple of years before the current coach assumed the head coaching responsibilities and would have just been an assistant. Ricky won State in 2005 and Williams didn't take the team until 2008
  16. Someone's done got into Grandma's cough syrup a little early this morning....
  17. I provide actual intellect and statistics etc...and this is what you come up with? It's a lot like your go to "no athletes" comments or the "injury" excuse which in unequivocally false. How about the every year talk about how Giles will be good once this j.v. team comes up....which they never are. When you gonna call a spade a spade and stop placing blame everywhere it shouldn't?
  18. Dumbest comment possibly ever! No leadership in the 13 seniors on the team?? If that's true, where the hell are the coaches in this scenario?? Senior leadership is a dumbass talking point used by people like you that doesn't have a single clue. Senior leadership has never made a single football play ever. I feel dumber even talking with you sometimes
  19. Maybe I'm blind to the fact that the storybook football program in this state has become a laughing stock?! The entire state would have been put on notice if a Ragsdale Giles team dropped to the lowest 1A level and now they just schedule them for homecoming for an easy win. From 1979 to 2017 Giles had a point diff in the negatives 3 times.....this year makes 6 in a row. Giles isn't the best football team in it's own county anymore. It's a ruined product
  20. Running an offense invented prior to WW2 at the turn of the century? How many athletes do you need? LMAO 🤣 You couldn't possibly be this ignorant right?
  21. Ragsdale wins 7 games with this team with little doubts. Next year isn't looking real hot either as it's a senior dominated team.
