But the thing about Thursday is a short week of practice for teams where Saturday gives an extra day. I heard some coaching staffs weren’t even asked if they preferred Thursday or Saturday, decision was made without consulting them. Maybe that’s normal but it seems like you’d ask the head coach when deciding.
If we get the amount of rain they're calling for most fields will be a mess on Saturday unless they have turf
At the moment, it looks like the AD's moving games to Thursday are going to get this one right. That is, until the forecast changes for the 73rd time this week.
As of now, the forecast in Galax is projected to be 57* with no rain during the game time window.
Guess it depends on which forecast you look at, weather channel says 58% at 7, 72% at 8 and 85% at 9 Thursday night but I hope the forecast you're looking at is correct
They're now calling for 1" Thursday night and 1"-2" Friday with showers Friday night, hopefully the heavy stuff won't start till after the games Thursday night
In looking at the extended forecast, the best chance of avoiding heavy rain is definitely Thursday, and maybe that's the thinking here. But the game-time forecast at this moment is remarkably similar regardless of which day they play the game. If the system slows, or changes course, Thursday may allow for the game to be played in dry conditions. That isn't a possibility on Friday unless something changes. But, that shouldn't matter with the turf.
Either way, it's a short work week for most of us so it doesn't matter. It's a bit more problematic for those kids who leave school at 6:30am on Friday morning for an hour-plus trip to Governor School. It is what it is, we'll deal with it and move on!
Just to show much this forecast will change this week, now they're calling for more rain Thursday night than they're Friday night....lol. I'd say it will go back and forth all week
Weather.com and The Weather Channel are the same thing!
I have posted an image twice but it keeps denying the post. Forecast suggests more rain for Friday than Thursday but during the game-time window for Thursday and Friday, they look remarkably similar.
I'm aware they're the same I'm just posting what they're calling for instead of just percentages and as of now they're calling for 1/4" Thursday night and 1/2" Friday night but I'm sure that will change throughout the week.
