  1. This is what I was thinking. Some schools might tone it down because of all of the soccer/football markings. It can get pretty busy.
  2. It is a very masculine shade of "Kelly".
  3. Drove by Ernie Hicks this past weekend and they added "Richlands" in white lettering in both end-zones. That's a bit unique. I think most schools do their mascot name or leave it blank. Thoughts?
  4. Well, Bubba Edwards as the OC. No word on DC unless Ronnie takes it himself. I think he has experience as a DC. So the "top 3" positions could already be set. Edwards will be the QB coach...or at least he was at his previous stops. So, not sure of the LB, RB, DL, OL, etc. I thought there was some carry over from a few of last year's staff. I think Breeding returns as RB coach...not sure if he coaches defense. Also, I think Ronnie has OL experience...so maybe he works with that position on offense. That's a lot of work for one man, though.
  5. Geez. That was lacking. The BHC couldn't have added more than age, where he played and last year's experience?
  6. Same with Holston. It is hard to sustain a high level with 20-25 varsity kids.
  7. Hmm....if I were Union or Ridgeview, I'd be sniffing around for some athletes that are close to the district lines. Don't let your rival's mistakes go unpunished.
  8. It always seems like those guys don't get elevated, doesn't it. During the last RV change, they minimized the roll of the only coach that worked with the kids all summer. The ones that never showed up to those voluntary workouts were promoted. Hopefully his hard work will be properly recognized. I do miss that RV/Central heated rivalry from 2019-2022. Those were some good matchups of two talented teams that did NOT like each other very much. Lol.
  9. Looks like they were not too excited about the initial candidates first and second pass. Makes me wonder if they are recruiting someone they like, hence the mystery candidate.
  10. Yeah, practices would be tough and you definitely wouldn't be able to move girls soccer to the fall. Schools wouldn't be able to support three different teams, plus the band, trying to use the same field. Facilities and logistics dictate a spring soccer season. Does anyone anticipate SWVA schools dropping soccer as the enrollment numbers decrease?
  11. What if there isn't going to be an "R" in the middle. 💣 💥
  12. No, she going to coach there, pending McAmis approval.
  13. Soccer also cannibalizes track athletes as well. Having four spring sports (three bigger ones) is a bit much for the boys side. Moving soccer to the fall makes a lot of sense as football is the only major sports (for boys). Having baseball, soccer, track and tennis in one season is a bit much, especially when you only have football, golf and cross country in the fall.
  14. As long as soccer, golf and tennis exist, baseball is in no danger of being the most boring sport. And, yes, it can be boring, especially if the teams aren't good.
  15. They didn't win the Mountain 7. They were the 3rd or 4th best team in their own district and they would have been the 3rd or 4th best in the 2D Region. Richlands could have done that, especially with Trivette. This isn't a slight on the player as some have taken it. I expected them to be at Central's level and they weren't. They weren't at Ridgeview's level. That could be coaching, system, fit, etc.
  16. Trivette going to Abingdon wasn't nearly as impactful as I thought it would be. I think Richlands would have been pretty tough if she stayed.
  17. Possibly ready for next season or we looking at a couple of more years? I see they are all in the LL program but I keep thinking...."You need to give the dang middle/jv/high school kids a place to play at home."
  18. Speaking of baseball turf…how is Richland coming along with building their baseball field?
  19. Soooo....go back to the high quality field RHS had in the 80's and 90's?
  20. Probably warranted more than the tepid response from the administration. Demonstrated evidence of multiple physical confrontation is clear enough for me but I'm sure there are other details not released
  21. You also need to look the other way when an athlete beats his girlfriend up and vandalizes her car.
  22. Just watch hockey, which, quite honestly, is a better sport than most other options. Just as physical as football, hand-eye coordination of baseball and soccer. Much faster pace. Waaaaayyyy less arrogance and entitled attitudes. My family has a lot of midwestern roots. I played on a street hockey league in Texas for a couple of years while I was in the Army stationed at Fort Hood......a whole new level of being in shape....and I was a plodding defensemen with average change of direction for that league. Those forwards are world class athletes. I remember the other defensemen I played with was a tanker and had a glass eye. He would smack dudes in the boards and was always checking with me to make sure his eye didn't come out. Lol. Good times!
  23. Ummm.,,,,did you watch Michiganthis year? The most run oriented offense in college football in a long time.
  24. Would make sense. He doesn’t have a path to HC at Ridgeview, IMHO.
