  1. [/ QUOTE ] I had complained all year long to do more with the offense that we had. WVU had way too many weapons to just run PW up the middle and around the end. Throwing down field and able to run like WVU does will be the way to the NC. Huge pickups........I love the new staff! It's more than the dictatorship we had! [/ QUOTE ] We've had the exact same kind of offensive problem at James Monroe High for several years. Look at the losses that JM and WVU have had. For being at 2 different levels, they were strangly similar. When I listened to the Pitt game this year 13-9 loss, I thought I was listening to a repeat of JM's 7-6 loss to Tolsia the year before.
  2. [/ QUOTE ] is it every this kids on the fields fault...I played the game and too me if you execute correctly the coach in genius and if you don't it's coach's fault...just throwing that out there,,,and yes i do coach now. [/ QUOTE ] There alot of truth to that, but Witt went away from what got the team to Wheeling, and what was working in the game. I still believe that if we had kept running the ball, that would've been a much different game.
  3. Wyoming East has built a heck of a program down there.
  4. I have meet some Priceton alum that are much more racist than folks here in Monroe Co. Not all are like that, but I thought it was worth saying. Hopefully the powers that be in P-ton will get off their butts and stomp this out. This is a ticking time bomb that litterally could get some kids killed.
  5. I'm sorry about your friend. We've all done things that we look back in and realize were pretty stupid. I never actually drove drunk, but I drove extremely fast, which could've had the same result. You just don't think disaster can happen to you but that's dependant on the good graces of the Lord. Hopefully we can keep that in mind, no one's bulletproof.
  6. So, what was the final score anyway?
  7. [ QUOTE ] the rumors you hear from monroe county are hilarious. I hear a new one every week about coach simon every week from my JM buddies at Concord. The last one had Coach Simon coming to Concord and Whitt coming to Bluefield. Then another one was Whitt was coming to Concord to be Freddy's offensive coordinator...lol If you heard 1/2 of the rumors you just said from anyone, somebody needs to make sure not to drink the bong water again. I swear there is a new one every week... [/ QUOTE ]
  8. A while back there were alot of rumors that Simon wouldn't be the coach at Bluefiled after 2007. Haven't heard anything on that in a while. Is he planning on coaching the Beavers this year?
  9. My understanding is it will either be Robertson or John Ballengee, possibly both. As far as QB's out of the middle schools I'm not sure right now. Jackson ran the single wing a litte, but it was usually due to injury or nothing else working. It definetly won't remain the primary offense for long, if at all.
  10. Well that's a simple solution, arrest the ones involved and ban them from going to FB games for their respective teams for 1 year. I've never been one to believe that you punish everyone because of 1 or 2 idiots, but that seems to happen from time to time.
  11. [ QUOTE ] I didn't think about Oak Hill being AAA. [/ QUOTE ] Hard to believe they beat us in the playoffs 2 years after that too. I wish they'd get it back together, I know they had some big games with Bluefield and Wyoming East back then as well.
  12. [/ QUOTE ] Then let me ask you this......Why did you guys not return any calls from Graham High School when we were looking for games? I seriously doubt Giles chickened out as you say. Narrows maybe, but certainly not Giles. Same old James Monroe you want that respect, but you don't want to earn it. I agree with Bluefield Rules totally. [/ QUOTE ] If it were upto me, we'd play Graham. Trust me, if we ain't afraid of Bluefield and Wayne, we're not scared of Graham. Like I said, I wish we did play them, as well as Princeton and Giles.
  13. Oak Hill was AAA then. As for "out of control" fans, the only thing I remember was in 1990 when the officiating crew broke Peterstown's winning streak and were escorted away. Other than that, I seriously would like to know what went on.
  14. [ QUOTE ] . Not like it matters for JM, Giles won't play them in regular season regardless. [/ QUOTE ] I'd see your right there, especially since Jackson's back. In the past I've been as critical of him as anyone, and if he (hopefully not) returns to his choking ways in the playoffs, I'll be ripping him again I'm sure. But the one thing he always seemed to do was shut down the single wing. That fact was a major factor in many Monroe Countians never liking the offense. While the single wing probably got us into the playoffs in 2003, and won some games in 2004, it probably contributed to the 2006 loss to Tolsia, they really shut it down. The losses to Bluefield in 2005 and 2007 were more the result of horrific play-calling.
  15. Even with the "upgrades" in JM's schedule, at least half of the teams on it were what I considered almost certain wins. We've had a few teams that have went downhill on the schedule the past few years, and a few others that are too sissyfied to play us, you being a Bluefield fan should understand that. Summers, Grnbr West, Midland Trail, Narrows, and even Pikeview were decent several years ago but not recently. Greebrier West and Giles plain chickened out, there's no if's ands or buts about that, so did Liberty and Shady, but they were lucky to beat us 10% of the time. In 1999, JM had 3 AAA teams on the schedule, played Princeton when they were good, played Bluefield except for the years they were down, and played Wyoming East when they were great. I think you'll be surprised. I don't believe you'll see Montcalm on the JM schedule anytime soon.
  16. Talked with someone close to the Giles program. Turns out about 1/2 of the coaching staff is seriously considering getting out right now. That, combined with Ragsdale retiring, and the team going into a major rebuilding year, it could be a long, or I should say short season in Pearisburg, no matter who comes in.
  17. [ QUOTE ] YES! [/ QUOTE ] All I have to say is be carefull what you wish for.
  18. Confirmed it, he's the coach and he had a meeting with the team this week. This almost certainly means the end of the single wing era in Monroe County. We'll see if this is good or bad, hopefully he can make up from the playoff shortfalls of the late 90's and 2002.
  19. [ QUOTE ] Bluefield "wins", 70-68. Charleston is going to be a nightmare for the Beavers.... [/ QUOTE ] Not for long if they play like that. That score doesn't surprise me at ll. James Monroe nearly beat Bluefield twice, and Summers beat JM pretty good late in the year.
  20. I listened to Rush for a little while last Friday when he was talking about the Texas and Ohio Democrat primaries. He's been criticized for suggesting that Republicans in those states vote for Hillary to delay the nomination process. Not sure if that had any affect, but you saw who those states went for. I've got to wonder too if this was a good idea. Safe to say if, God-forbid, Hillary wins in November, Rush will be kicking himself for years. On a related note, what kind of crack-head conceives a system where you can vote for the nominee of the opposite party? At least that's 1 area where West Virginia does have some common sense.
  21. Wasn't there some other Running back for UVA that just busted for drinking in public a few years back? Think he played for Marshall after that. Sorry Graham fans, couldn't resist.
  22. If they do make it into the tournement, they'll be one of the most dangerous lower ranked teams with all those close losses in the regular season.
  23. It was good to see him go out playing well. I thought he'd stayed too long a couple of years back, but he did a great job helping re-build that team. Every Packer fan owes him alot for that, and oh yeah, all those other games and championships he helped them win. It'll be different seeing someone else behind center for GB, but it was going to happen sooner or later. Also, Warren Sapp retired as well today. He was fun to watch in Tampa, I wish he hadn't went to Oakland, his career really died down there it seemed, but I'll miss seeing him around too.
  24. IMO Scott will struggle next year. They were as much of a 1-man team last year as I've seen in a while. They were similar to the Liberty teams with Tommy Newman a few years ago, only Roberts was better. Without Roberts, Scott would've been lucky to make the playoffs.
  25. ...Now they've got it: http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/03/02/chavez.colombia/index.html Mr. Chavez is the latest in a long line of buttholes we've had to put up with thanks to our dependence on foreign oil. God-willing we can see some REAL effort to change our energy policy, that way if these maniacs want to kill each-other, we can just let them. I hope this doesn't create another front for our military. If anything else goes wrong that "requires" major U.S. intervention, I could see the draft coming back. We're streched dangerously thin, Hurricane Katrina proved that.
