  1. It's that same old, tired, North vs South crapola. Wheeling is just as remote from most of the state as is Bluefield, so that argument doesn't hold up. It is a simple matter of the WVSSAC has strong support in the Northern part of the state and Wheeling has a lock on the "Super Six" state finals.
  2. Win a few, Lose a few...But, Bluefield and Graham have both won more than they lost over the years. A lifelong Beaver fan, I found myself yelling my lungs out at the Graham vs Big Creek game in 1966 (Won by Graham, by the way), That was the year that Bluefield had only one loss, that to Big Creek, which kept them out of the State Championship. Big Creek came to Mitchell Stadium for the last game of the season to play a Graham team that had not lost since their fourth game and sported a 6-3 record. Big Creek, at 9-0, was the odds-on favorite to win the WV State Championship, having dispatched Beaver 19-0 earlier in the season. Graham handed the Owls their only loss that year, dashing the hopes of glory and achieving, to the best of my knowledge, the only 3-way tie for the Area Championship in history. So, as long as they are not playing my beloved Beavers, GO GRAHAM!
  3. Does anyone have accurate info on Nick's win/loss totals at Gate City?
  4. Maybe it's time to go back to school...and "Carpe Deum", or SIEZE the day...Sorry, Mary Chmara wouldn't let me get away with that one! Remember, "Revenge is a dish best served cold".
