I don't blame VA High for not wanting in the LPD! Their farthest district school would be Clintwood, a little over 2 hours away on a bus! As opposed to about an hour 20 minutes to GW. Additionally, how would Lee justify playing in Region D when/if the state goes to four classes? Right now the cut offs for Class A are like 670 or something in that neighborhood, what happens then when the cut off goes down around 450 or somewhere around there? Why don't you just petition Kentucky to play in their state or something?

We lost our entire back field. Matt Hayes will probably replace Kevin Rose as running back, Andrew Bostic will be the QB. We also lost some good linemen like Ryan Miller and Dustin Short and a good line backer in DJ Hall. But we basically return most of our line from last year. The JV players coming up should do fine, they finished 6-2 last year and they play mostly AA schools. Having Tyler Patrick back free of injuries should be good too!

Here's my BDD prediction: Honaker or Haysi, whoever doesn't win the BDD this season, misses the wild card bid 'cause the two schools just love running wild through the Cumberland teams every year.

The only way you could get Lebanon AA again would be to kick them outta the Hogo and say they hafta go to the BDD or join the Highlands and trust me, they'll go to the Highlands.

Honaker almost actually decided to join the SWD back in the early or mid 90s. I think it would be a good idea, we have wanted to leave the BDD for years and the Hogo won't take us back. I'd say Honaker would do pretty good in all sports in Region IV. We play most of the Highlands/Southwest teams in lots of sports anyway and do pretty good. We would be a good fit I think, we were one of the biggest Class A schools in the state at one time, but our decrease in enrollment over the years really hasn't made an impact in athletics. Graham is a tiny school now like we are and look how well they do!

More than likely just leave it as a three team league. Lee would probably file a suit against the VHSL if they moved all the Highlands schools back to the Southwest. Of course with Lee going to the state board of education and whining about not getting to play in Class A, their request to be moved down could be granted and Marion and Abingdon would simply go to the SWD and maybe a new district in Region D would be formed with Lee and maybe a few of the bigger LPD schools. The next few weeks could be very well be very interesting...

There's a post on the LPD board that says VA High is moving down to single A and might wind up in the Lonesome Pine. They are pretty close to single A numbers and still dropping but I always thought they would go the route of Graham, Grundy, and Tazewell and play up.

You're right Lee Fan. Lee High probably wouldn't be competitive in Region D.

Yeah, I thought that was kinda stupid that Lee was the only school to not go along with the scheduling agreement with the Southwest and Highlands. Carroll County did, and they are really about as far away from everyone in the SWD and the Highlands as Lee is.

Grayson County should be in SWD to give Carroll County a natural rival. I wouldn't blame Lee for fighting GC's attempt to join the Highlands, it would have to be at least 3 and half hours from Independence to Jonesville wouldn't it?
