JM scored 3 td's and Giles had 1. Overall I came away very pleased with our Mavericks. Scrimmages are hard to judge though. If we played each other doing the reg season I think it would be a toss up. Giles as usual will have a very good team! On offense Jason Jackson,Taylor Robertson and the Tincher boy looked really good. The o-line opened up holes all day. The Robertson kid can really throw the football good. Tincher and Tuggle made some nice catches. On defense Zach Mann looked really good. I can't think of all the guys names on D but as a unit they looked pretty solid. I think we're in for a pretty good year. I hope to see you friday night.

One thing about Narrows is the kids always come to play and give it everything they got! In the end I think you guys will be okay. Hope you have a good year!

We tried to schedule Graham too but neither one of us had the same date available. Maybe in the future will be able to get that done.

Mt. View struggled to beat Big Creek. I don't think Wayne would have anything to worry about. As usual Mt. View just isn't that good. You can keep blaming the coaches all you want but if the kids were good enough they would be winning these kind of games.

Southern 10 conference is made up of Peterstown,Mountain View,Fayetteville,Anstead,Pikeview,Glenwood,Mt. Hope,Summers co., and Montgomery.Welch was in it until they got threw out this past year. Due to the fact they way their fans and players acted at games, but mostly for not showing up to play their scheduled games.I guess you could call it the southern 9 now.

I agree a big A+ for the Bluefield band.

It was a good hard fought game between two good teams and I want to congratulate my Mavericks on the victory. Alot of people on this board and the tsp board have called us overrated. Here's a couple of things to think about. Last year you had Bluefield and Weir that were so much better then everyone else. Did that make the rest of us that bad are overrated? No,cause they were just simply better then everyone else. Shady Springs made it to the final four last year and we blew them out during the season last year.So I think it's safe to say that we were a top 5 team last year. Bluefield and Weir were just that much better then everyone else. The same thing could be happening this year. You have Weir and Wayne that are a notch or two better then everyone else and maybe Hoover. As buzzsaw beaver said in a earlier post who else has shown anything special. So we could be a top 5 team again and you call that overrated. I honestly believe other then Weir and Wayne,Bluefield and JM will be just as good if not better then the other teams that make the playoffs. I think one of us could even make it to the semi-finals. Now neither one of us is going farther then that but hey that would be pretty good if it happens. Well those are just my thoughts,feel free to let me know yours.Good luck to everyone come playoff time!

We meaning Peterstown middle played them wed. night and beat them 42-6 and some said they had lost only one game so I figured it might have been to you guys. It was suppose to be a real test for us I thought but as you can tell by the score it wasn't. Thanks for the info.

This is our last year with Pt. Pleasant. So maybe we will get to play you guys in football. I heard we are trying to get Westside,Mt. View or Iaeger to take the place of Pt. Pleasant

We've been a school for 11 years now and been to the playoffs 8 times. You can holler about our schedule all you want. We play who we can get. We went all the way to point pleasant last year just to get a 10th game. Of our 8 playoff teams, 3 of them were true state title contenders. Ben Thornton's jr year we lost to dupont in the semi-finals in a very close game and they went on to lose to Weir in a close championship game. Ben's sr year we lost to Wyoming East in the semi's by a td. They went on to crush Bluefield in the championship. Nick Newberrys sr year we lost to Bluefield 3-0 in the playoffs and they went on to lose a close championship game to Poca. So for you to call our program a joke just shows how little you know about football! Do we have a state title to show for it? No we don't but that doesn't change the fact that out of 11 years of being a school we've had 3 teams that were just as good as any AA team in the state. I wouldn't talk about being arrogant if I was you. It's because of your stupid arrogant coaches last year that Weir doesn't have another title.

The Newman kid is the real deal. But with Liberty losing pretty much the entire o-line, I'd say he's probably going to take a beating this year. He's not the fastest guy in the world but he runs with alot of power. One guy usually doesn't bring him down. Behind a good o-line he would be tough to handle.

Last weekend Narrows was headed to their playoff game and a state trooper pulled up beside their bus.Two Narrows players decided to moon him. He pulled the bus over and gave the kids a talking to. The coach held them out of the game as punishment. I heard today that they are also going to be suspended for three days each.I guess you could say they might have won the game if they hadn't been showing their ass! LOL

He didn't have any problem last year throwing on you!

Having seen both Bluefield and Weir play this year. I've actually seen Bluefield twice, in my honest opinion I think Weir overall has the better team. That doesn't mean they are automatically going to beat Bluefield. The best team doesn't always win. I think Weir will be without a doubt the best team Bluefield has faced this year. As for Bluefield putting pressure on the QB, I'm sure they will but you better pray they get there or he will light you up like he did last year. He gets rid of the ball very quickly and has some of the best WR'S I have ever seen. Plus he is very mobile and will take off with it too. I feel like this will be the real championship game. Who ever wins this should have an easy time in Wheeling. We all know Shady can't match up with either one and I doubt if Wayne can either.The other bracket is very weak compared to this one. I can't wait till sat. it should be a great game.

From what I hear coach Witt is to hard headed to throw the ball more which is a big mistake. We need to come out throwing early in games to keep people honest. Everyone comes out stacking the line against us so I believe we could get some easy scores early if we would just throw some. In the oak hill and w.east games we got easy scores throwing the ball cause the db's were to far up worrying about the run, In those games I mentioned are wr's didn't have anyone with in 10 yards of them when they caught the ball. If we are going to be sucessful in this single wing offense for years to come, we are going to need a passing game to go with it. You can't wait to throw the ball when you have no choice. You've got to mix it up. The real contenders do both.Look at the past champions recently they had great running games but they could throw too. Just my opinion but I believe the single wing offense could be hard to stop if you also had a passing game. Thats what makes Giles so tough year in and year out. They catch you sneaking up to stop the run and they are not afraid to air it out on you.

Don't worrying about me I'll be there to the very end no matter how the game is going. I'm what you call a real football fan,something you must not no anything about. I don't believe in leaving a game early, thats not what a real football fan does.

Weather prediction that is. GOTCHA! made you look LOL Seriously though if JM plays like they did against Shady it could be close. Shady is the only game this year we played great football from start to finish. The rest of the year we did just enough to win and sort of just went through the motions,playing a good half here and there. We do that tomorrow night and it will be a blowout. Whatever happens I'll be there to the last seconds tick off the clock cheering on my Mavs. So lets put the ball in the air and see what happens.
