  1. Yep sure do. I actually thought that was you and I tried to send you a private message but it didn't work.
  2. At home. And yes Sources I did anticipate us losing. If we had been at home I would have come but I didn't think it wise to go to Bluefield knowing we were going to get beat. You see you guys would have ran your mouths and just ticked me off and nothing good would have come of that.
  3. I was told that there was a guy from Ohio that played for Weir during their first two games and then transferred back to Ohio. The WVSSAC was supposed to decide wether or not he was elligable to play for them. If he wasn't they may forfeit there first two games. They were supposed to decide this week.
  4. Has anyone heard if the WVSSAC has made a decision concerning the possibility of Weir having to forfeit those two games?
  5. Yeah it's going to be a tough enough task to beat Bluefield on their own. We don't want to have to beat the refs too.
  6. Thank you very much for your honest observation. I appreciate you having an open mind. I am not overlooking your loyalty to Bluefield but I just wish that more Bluefield fans would look at issues like this with an open mind instead of making excuses.
  7. Please read observantly. I said that Ben was PERHAPS the best ALL AROUND player in southern WV over the past ten years. The only thing I never saw Ben do in a game is attempt a field goal, other than that he did just about everything else as good as it can be done. I also said perhaps, which leaves it somewhat up for debate. I haven't seen every player in southern WV over the past ten years. In fact of the four you mentioned I have only seen one play and that was Gillard and he doesn't come close to Ben. He didn't even gain a hundred yards in either game that he faced us in. I am aware of Isabelle's reputation as a top notch player. As for the other two, never heard of them, so nuff said. I don't know why your talking about 96 because the two years that I said we WOULD have beaten you in was 98 and 99. Oh it's true. Oh, and lets watch the insinuated foul language please.
  8. I'm not sure if we played them in 95 but I think they beat us in 97. I know that we've only beat them once but as you correctly pointed out, we've only played them at the most 6 times by my count. Here is some food for thought though. It's probably fortunate for Bluefield that they didn't play us in 98 or 99. In 98 we lost to Dupont in the semi's. I'm not sure where Bluefield finished but I don't think they made it that far. In 99 we lost by one touchdown in a heartbreaker to the same Wyoming East team that easily defeated Bluefield in the state championship. Not to mention that we had perhaps the best all around player in all of southern WV high school football during the past ten years or so, Mr. Ben Thornton. Now I'm not saying this to bring up the past or sling mud. The truth is that Hillbilly brought up our past history without studying it very well. I for one don't see what relevence the past has on this Friday's game. I do think however, that if we are going to drag out the past let's do it right.
  9. I said it might give them some extra motivation. I'm sure they're already fired up. Its just that, the last time I really remember somone making a snide remark about our team it didn't turn out so well. In 1999 a Charleston sports writer said that we would have to be Maralyn Monroe to beat an undefeated Greenbrier East team. Well we won and the sports writer recieved a poster of Maralyn Monroe in the mail, compliments of the James Monroe football team. So if we win Friday night maybe we can do the same. So would you prefer some venison or a pack of Red Man.
  10. Yeah it's funny you should mention that Narrows game. I have one of there signs in my bedroom where I ripped it down after the game. Hey I'm not going to be home until Friday. If you have the opportunity and think it's appropriate, mention this little thing to the coaches and players. It might give them some extra motivation.
  11. Oh thats very clever. How many people showed up to the "Lets think of a clever way to trash Monroe County meeting" because I know you didn't think of this all by yourself. I think you left out the best one though. You see Friday begins opening day of beaver season.
  12. I must say as much as it pains me, I do agree that of the two teams Bluefield is the team to beat. And for any Mavs fans out there I'm not about to wave the white flag. However, I think that Bluefield can afford to make more mistakes Friday night than James Monroe. I'm with Go Mavs though, I hope our boys are fired up Friday night. I for one am not a bit cocky. The truth is I had already chalcked this up as a loss for us before the season started but my boys have overcome obstacles all season. Hopefully they'll bring their A game Friday night. GO MAVS!!!!!
  13. Our field in Lindside is playoff approved.
  14. Well I don't know about that. I think somebody is a little too sure of themselves, but hey I hope Bluefield's entire team has that same opinion. Now getting to something serious does Hillbilly or anyone else know why Weir may have to forfeit there remaining two games? Did Weir play Wheeling Central SAT. or did they forfeit?
  15. Why might Weir have to forfeit two games?
  16. Hey, man I really appreciate you being open minded about JM. Thats been my position all along, some Bluefield fans are trying to right us off because of our weak schedule but when you look at it we are both in similar situations. Bluefield plays Graham, Princeton, and Woodrow as rivalry games. Good or bad, win or lose they are on the schedule. Well, JM has Greenbrier East and Summers for long time rivals. We are actually in the process of beefing up our schedule. Up until this year we played several teams that were single A like Trail and Greenbrier West. This year we played all Triple and Double A teams. I think that picking up Liberty and Oak Hill were good moves and we also revived our rivalry with Wyoming East. I would like to see us pick up a few tougher local teams like Westside, Woodrow and Poca but thats not my decision. The truth is this Friday it doesn't matter who JM or Bluefield has played. I think Bluefield is the stronger team on paper with more experienced players but that doesn't mean I'm waving the white flag. I'll yell for my Mavs until the last second ticks off the clock. Aside from all the talk, which I am guilty of saying too much these past few days. What really is what the boys do on the field Friday night.
  17. I wouldn't agree that Martinsburg is weak. When Bluefield won that game it really worried me. As for Bluefields overall schedule under normal circumstances almost every team is usually a playoff contender except maybe Lee. The reality is Herbert Hoover is only 4-4 Woodrow is 2-6 Princeton is 2-6 Mount View is 4-3 Lee is 1-8 and Graham is 4-4. Most of these teams are usually playoff bound. The same is true for James Monroe. Liberty Raliegh will make the playoffs, Oak Hill is a respectable team, Shady is tough, Greenbrier East is usually a good AAA team but has been down lately, and Wyoming East won a state championship just a few years ago. We won't mention who they beat. Look, teams vary from year to year but both Bluefield and James Monroe play for the most part, respectably good ball clubs. I really think two things will determine the outcome friday night. How much Bluefield's injuries hurt them and I have to whole heartedly agree with Go Mavs, that it will be interesting to see which Mavs team shows up. Either way I'll be there pulling for my Mavs until the end of the game.
  18. A good observation,I would change one thing though. A well coached team finds a way to win.
  19. We didn't play Montcalm. As for Sources remarks, you guys have been hammering me for my comments about our team being better next year. Well now you guys are just making excuses as to why we are undefeated and why we have such a high scoring offense. I can't help what our schedule is. Princeton dropped us because they are joining a conference, we played Mount View until last year and from what I am told Woodrow won't play us. Bluefield is the better team but the better team doesn't always win as was the case in our plaoff game in 2002.
  20. I don't think I would be so bold to say that bluefield is going to win 49-6. After all James Moroe is averaging 44.86 per game while only giving up 11.14 per game.
  21. I don't know what your guys problem is. I have said repeatedly that I am not looking for us to win. You don't hear me saying something like, yeah just wait until you come to Lindside this Friday and see what happens. The fact is I just HATE Bluefield and get tired of hearing about them. I think you are just a bunch of arrogant idiots. I don't know where you get the idea that I'm cocky about James Monroe. I will be a little suprised if we make it to the semi's and really suprised if we go to state. You see the reality is I don't care who beats you, just as long as somebody does. Oh, sure I would like for us to do it but just to see Rusty and the gang come up short for the third year in a row would make my whole year, and thats the last thing I have to say on this thread which I'm sure all you rodent fans very happy.
  22. What do you mean sticks. We have one of the nicest fields in the state. I'm just glad we don't have to play in the HOOD where we have to beat the players and the refs. OH and i can tell you where you can put that wood.
  23. Yes i know that moron. If you were an observant reader you would see that I attributed that to our former ignorant head coach. Bluefield should never have won that game and any honest person could admit that. In fact the whole state found out how undeserving Bluefield was when the got spanked by Poca 27-7. I'll admit it up front, I expect us to lose Friday, so if we do thats not a big deal. However, if Bluefield loses that is a very big deal because they are expected to win. Bottom line, Bluefield is ALWAYS arrogant. I remember when Bluefield was 2-8 a few years ago. It was so pitiful listening to a Bluefield game on the radio. All the announcers would talk about how it was in the good old days when Bluefield was winning 9 and 10 games a season. OH SHUT UP, why can't Bluefield just suck it up. Oh yeah, it's easy to run your mouth when you are on top but have a little pride when you are rebuilding. Bottom line, James Monroe has far exceeded my expectation this year. I was looking for a 7-3 or an 8-2 record at best. As a fairly young team they have stepped up and won all their games so far. Even if we lose Friday I say GREAT JOB MAVS, you're looking forward to at least two home playoof games.
  24. Well as for our schedule Princeton dropped us and it was kinda nice to not have to be escorted by state troopers down to Welch this year. So there are two good teams we had to replace. The problem is nobody wants to play us. Woodrow and Nicholas county won't play us so we have to go all the way to Point Pleasant tonight. I would like to see us pick up teams like Graham, Westside, and Poca, but thats not my call. As for you guys, yeah you've had an awesome while playing a tough schedule. Our weaker schedule will show up in the polls but keep in mind Bluefield is a prodominantly senior team while we are not. We have our best years ahead.
