  1. that doesn't matter. new 2-year contracts start this year. BUT... if it is @ Mitchell, is it a Sat. night game?
  2. Because they do. 1.) Some coaches will schedule 6 or even 7 whippings (road games) in a rebuilding year, then those "veterans" get 6 or 7 home games the next year ... a better team usually = a better gate, which = more $$$. 2.) Sometimes you get down to that 10th game and the only team/s left already have 5 away games, too... SOMEONE has to lose the coin-flip. And Haysi ALSO has 6 away games this year.
  3. NC, WV, TN & KY also divide equally instead of using a set number. The problem is the school ppl. who make up the VHSL. TN & KY both recently added more Groups, which is what VA should do. At least we're not as bad at this as NC. They're set-up is sooooo screwy. The have a LOT of combination Districts, and they don't do their "Divisions" until AFTER they've determined who has qualified for the playoffs. Imagine Graham & Carroll Co. making the playoffs. They could be in Div. 2 & Div. 3 this year, then in Div 1 & Div. 4 next year. It all depends on the sizes of the other playoff schools. Brookville could be in Region 3, Div. 3 this year and Region 2, Div. 4 the next. (And this happens EVERY year, not just the realignment years.)
  4. They DO have a set number... ONE-THIRD. Each of the 3 Groups gets 1/3 of the schools.
  5. I usually find about 30 the first time through on a new cycle.
  6. Lloyd said he'll be broadcasting Honaker baseball. Sat. 1 pm - prob on 100.7 FM WMJD. Sun. 10 am - prob. on 940 AM WNRG, due to FM having live church services.
  7. Need some? Locations, maps or eats? I've gotcha covered. http://www.angelfire.com/va/vhsl/Radford2009.html
  8. Need some? Schedules, locations, directions, maps or eats? I've gotcha covered. http://www.angelfire.com/va/vhsl/Radford2009.html
  9. Actually, doing equal thirds by these numbers puts the A/AA line at 750, which puts Richlands 31 too high with 4 other AA schools (including Patrick Co., which could go to the Three Rivers) closer. Marion would be 38 above and could go to the Hogo. The AA/AAA line would be 1550. GW-Danville would go to the Seminole, William Fleming could go to either of the Ridges. And AAA TJ-Richmond is once again A-eligible. ---- current Wise Co. merger numbers - 777 - Powell Valley & Appalachia 755 - Pound & JJ Kelly 540 - St. Paul & Coeburn
  10. I made a mistake above; let's try this again. In Region D, Haysi & Castlewood flip-flop again (but Haysi can petition down to Div. 1], Clintwood can petition down again, but Coeburn can NOT, because, in the past 18 months, they've gained 24 students while Lee lost 89 (and the distinction of being the largest Single A school). Of the 63 non-Region B schools, only 9 are larger than their largest Div. 1 team (B Gap). The SMALLEST Div. 1 team in Reg. B is larger than ANY Div. 1 team in Regions C or D.
  11. Problem with that is it will end the Southwest District, unless Region D agrees to realign and drop the Clinch Mtn. Shoulda done this years ago.
  12. Enoch's Branch road suffered some damage due to the recent heavy rains, so ALL events that were scheduled for Enoch's Branch have been MOVED to Poplar Gap Park (accessable via Poplar Creek, Little Prater or Lovers Gap).
  13. Same as last time .... no movement in Regions IV, D & C Clintwood & Haysi can again petition down of the 63 non-Region B schools, only 9 are larger than their largest Div. 1 team (B Gap) the SMALLEST Div. 1 team in Reg. B is larger than ANY Div. 1 team in Regions C or D. Lee High is no longer the largest Single A team (they've lost 89 students in the past 18 months). http://www.vhsl.org/files/fb-divisions-2009-10.pdf

  15. I misspoke slightly ... there ARE activities for the youngins at the library, but no carnival rides.
  16. "For one, Chrysler and GM won't save substantial amounts of money by closing dealerships, which are independently owned businesses." How much does a dealership "cost" an automaker? I know they pay for x% of their advertising, and may provide those 50' high signs, but what else? And don't count those "dealer incentive" packages, because that gets paid anyway (If I sell 10 and you sell 10, and I close, then you sell 20, they may axctually pay out more based on the volume). ---- "At the same time, both GM and Chrysler have no choice but to greatly reduce their dealerships ranks, which have grown far larger than sales demand requires. The goal is a leaner, more profitable, network of sellers." What do they care HOW profitable dealer X is? Are the dealers actually profitable? Sad state when the middle-man makes money while the maker doesn't.
  17. b... Sis said that if you and your dad still want to do something, give her a call.
  18. wait... it IS fair to put the burden on the Pepsi Center's management - they did the deal. Geez, they're the #2 seed. Lotta faith there, guys. Now, the NBA is the actual problem, saying the game must be played Monday night. Doesn't Denver have a coliseum, civic center, or college that could host the game?
  19. In the past 4 years, the scheds were out by June 8th just once.
  20. Who gets the Pepsi? http://cfc.wjla.com/printstory.cfm?id=623969 http://www.thedenverchannel.com/sports/19493120/detail.html http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_12399761 http://www.pepsicenter.com/
  21. But 7:57's still not early enough http://www.dailymail.com/Sports/MLB/200905190036
  22. in Grundy weekend of June 6th. Basically nothing for the youngins. First-year deal, so we don't expect a huge turnout. http://www.bcbirdclub.org/folklifefestival/Index.htm brochures are being set out at county businesses (mainly sit-and-wait places like small stores, beauty shops, auto shops, etc.) and at the library.
  23. me either. And it''s still too early for scheds.
  24. I didn't know the amount of kids you have in their school is a problem, othdr than it's lower than what it used to be.
