Can the Dawgs tame the Panthers?? Its a home game for Tazewell. Twin Valley seems to be playing well.. They had a big win at BDD rival Council Saturday nite. Tazewell sits at the top of the SWD standings. It should be a good game. My pick is TV by 12. 20 if they hit their free throws!! lol Whata you think Juice?

This is a big day for SWD Bball... It will make later games much more important in days to come. Good luck to all.. May all play at the top of their games. Hopefully the officials will let the kids determine the outcome, and the fans enjoy the games in a sportsmanlike spirit. Most of all keep safe from injury. like Juicedawg said.. so many wins going in so many directions? I just cant figure it out.. Richlands looses to Carroll in OT.. Graham looses to Grundy Grundy looses to Hurley Tazewell yet to play a district game til tonite... To me it looks dead even... Taze/grundy tonite will shine some light! All SWD Teams will have played each other once after this week. Any thoughts on these games? Whose playing well right now? Graham at Grundy wed Grundy at Taze thur CC at Graham tue Taze at Rich. sat CC at Grundy sat Wow, it could almost be settled by next week. I think depth and home court advantage might play a big part in who surfaces as the front runner.

Any thoughts on these games? Twin Valley has been on break for 2 weeks.. It might be a good chance for someone to sneak up on the Panthers... Tazewell did well in the Wytheville Tourn.. and Richlands has had several games through the holidays.. Twin Valleys edge... Depth and Home court...

Rumor mill around Buchanan County has Grundy standout, Stephan Baker is ailing from a shoulder injury. Also, that he might be facing possible surgery. Hopefully, this isn't at all true. If it is, our wishes for a quick and speedy recovery are with him.

Thought this would be interesting.... Since everyone has picked favs at pre-season.. lets rate them going into the Holiday Break.. Lets start with: SWD.. 1. Carroll Co.. They are always a well kept secret.. They seem to be scoring lots of pts and winning.. I really dont know the level of comp they are playing.. 2. Tazewell... Juicedawgs been kinda quite.. but i'm still gonna go with them as #2.. For now.. 3. Graham... Could easily pick these guys at #1.. They have played some toughies early and not did to bad.. 4. Grundy... Seems they have suffered a let down early but thats the way they start. They will rebound and make it interesting. 5. Richlands... Has talent to make a difference.. Like Grundy can make it interesting down the stretch.. Cant aford home district losses... BDD.. 1. Twin Valley... Have alot of weapons.. Size, speed, inside and outside game! So far has been improving.. Needs a higher level of competition. Which will happen soon! 2. Haysi... Undefeated at present, seems to be playing well. Every night will be a show down in the BDD. 3. Council... Took Va. Class A power house Twin Springs into OT before loosing by 3 at TS. Evidently, is improving since their loss to Haysi earlier. 4. Honaker... Scrappy and rebuilding, finding their new self.. Will make it interesting on any given nite in the BDD. 5. Hurley.. A big supprise.. could be moved up to #2 or #3 spot.. but, needs to show it can win in the District. If they play the way they did against their County Rival.. Grundy.. they could be a force! this is all just something to chat about.. no offense intended... All my info comes from the BDT and Bristol papers...I really dont know much about how the districts are set up in WV.. maybe someone else could talk about that. The SWD and BDD are probably the closest bball districts with the most ppl talking so i just thought i'd post something.. It seems like its gotten alot quitter on this board. Is everyone tired or what!! lol

Basically, it was a good game. It started off like it was going to get ugly. Then, came the sub rotation for TV, which are all good players. For some reason, they lost Grundys shooter. He nailed 2 or 3 3's and then another guy one.. and the lead was cut to 8 or so.. Grundy had no answer for TV's inside game ... About ref's.. if they'd called all that shoulda been called Baker and Ashby (Theo slapping) probably shoulda been gone in the third.. But, they let them play, thats was a good thing.. Grundy shot the ball much better against a tough TV defense. Most teams arent going to be that active and stay as fresh as TV when their coach subed in multitude. Continuity, suffered alittle during the grundy run,but that was taken care of the the next round of replacements. Coach Moore gives his players a chance it seems. It's hard to play 5 against 10, when the second 5 can compete in their own right. It will only help them down the road. Grundy played much better tonight, more inspired and with much more heart it seemed.. Good luck in the games to come. OH, who was the kid that came in the last 3 or 4 minutes and looked tough for Grundy... His number 33 i think.. left hand, jumper looked good..

To have a true champion in the tournament, they should have to play.. But, It's not gonna work out like that.

From info i heard it was an ugly loss for Grundy also.. Alittle advice.. Get your heads up, quite blaming.. and get to work, or its going to be a really long season.. Hey, you play the BDD schools to get you prepared for your district. right? Well, look at it as a vehicle to improvement. In your case also a lesson in humility! Now, its character time.. Coaching might be a slight thing.. but its not all of it! The realization of not being as good as you think you are, can be a staggering thing to some. It also motivates the lesser to become better. For shooters thats shooting that bad, go with the bench. Nothing should be just given. The bench kids will bust their butt and the so called "stars" might be awakened. The balls in your court and the sports fans are watching!

Council lost 2 major players to graduation. A really good pt guard and a big physical 6'6" post player. Have they improved that much or did you guys just play that bad. I'm not being critical.. I just didnt think that would happen. Especially you playing them at grundy. One thing about it.. it's early, plenty time to recover.

I agree with the above post! A big loss for the Wave.. You have to win those games.. I bet it'll be even harder to beat them at Council the next time out... Does anyone wanna elaborate on the game last night?? Grundy10 or Wave5.. You guys post on here.. whats your take on it?
