  1. The schedule for the Region 4 is as follows: Tazewell vs Dan River at Tazewell on Tuesday. Abingdon Vs Southwest #2 at Abingdon. Winner of the Tazewell-Dan River vs Va High at Tunstill on Thursday. Winner of Abingdon-Southwest #2 vs Tunstill at Tunstill on Thursday. Winner of the games on Thursday will play again on Thursday for the Region 4 Championship.
  2. Is there any doubt who the best softball team in all of southwest Va is???? Got to be Gate City!!!!!!!!!Godsey's got the best pitching, the best hitting and the best defense (due to the good pitching)...There is nothing in the Lonesome Pine for that bunch. They could play and beat the Bulldogs (of Tazewell) and the Cats (from Bristol, the Blues, the Tigers, and everyone else on a regular basis. I predict a state championship for the blue devils. Could probably win the AA. The ladys on that team seem to really like to play and win plus Godsey is one of the best, if not the best, coach west of Roanoke if not the state. I wish the Black Diamond and Cumberland districts good luck in the region. That will be a walk in the park......
  3. Gate City 2 VHS 0 Gate City put a couple of hits together in two innings scoring a run each time. VHS bats went back to Marion status, however, Osborne was the reason. She is the best pitcher I've seen this year in Virginia. Godsey's girls played good defense too...
  4. The Hurricanes pitching was effective. The Cats appeared to have prepared for Honaker instead of Marion. I think Reed may have played a bunch of freshmen and sophmores and didn't take Marion serious. Almost cost him. They played Honaker 30 minutes later and tore the cover off the ball. Slate and Maxfield both got knocked around tonight. A Cats fan told me they play Gate City tomorrow. I would say Osborne will slow their bats down.
  5. Well I made the journey to Bristol twice this week. How in the world did Richlands pitching even allow 6 errors. The Branson girl K'd 16 in six innings. VHS scored 7 against Slate and 8 against Maxfield. The Cats did struggle against Marion. 3-2 win in 11 innings. Branson did not even play until the 7th inning, then played left field. The Campbell girl pitched all 11 innings. Reed's nuts.
  6. I would say their hitting was bad because Muncy is a better pitcher than they have been facing all season. When you play a "good" schedule (Not the one the Blues have been playing) you're not going to hit the ball as much. The blues bats have been feasting on weak pitching. And you will see that again when they play the dogs, or anyone else with good pitching. Someone in R-land needs to schedule some teams that will help them late in season. Quit living off the weak (so the batting avg are up)and prepare for a tough district or region game. Boy I know the Blues don't want to hear that ------- but it is TRUE!!!!
  7. I wish I was a jealous coach. Just a southwest Virginia softball fan. Boy did I pick the big game right or what????Go Bulldogs
  8. Do you have a Perkins. A Steele, Armes, Cordle, Grindstaff, Street, Tolliver, and Warner. I doubt it. These were ladies who knew the game. They could hit, field and do what it takes to win. True winners.............Knew the meaning of team....Boy, what a pleasure to coach that bunch would have been. Just throw the balls and bat bag down and let that group of ladies do what they loved to do....Win....The Blue don't come close to that team this year. They were special... Just ask Rhonda...........
  9. You're silly......and don't know your softball
  10. This web site is getting boring. You folks from Richlands and Tazewell are really uptight. You both know that it's about to get to district championship time. No one wants to go out on the limb. Which team is going to win it?????? I think Muncy and the bulldogs will be the team that gets the Piedmont #2 for the regionals. Shoot, that will be a tough game, not to mention, then you'll get the number 1 from the Highlands. The winner of that 2nd game of the regionals gets a trip to state. It's looking like that Tunstill will get another trip to the state quarterfinals with a real young team. That damn Roger has done it again. Region 4 Coach of the year. Bulldogs are laying low for now. Next week will tell where Southwest and Highlands stand (if the aces are on the mound). Muncy vs Branson......Will proably see in semi's of region 4. Forget Renia................ Will See
  11. I looked at Va High schedule and they are only playing one single A school, and that is Northwood. (A pretty good single A team). They do play in the worst district in the State however the Knoxville Tenn teams they play will be above average. Come on VCATS and get with the programs. You don't seem to know your softball. Not even your own team.
  12. The Blues are feasting on teams without talent. Their easy schedule will show come the end of May. That's when it all counts......
  13. Makes you wonder who's winning and who's losing. There are a few coaches who will not call in a loss. Will hear sooner or later....... By the way, Gate City is looking really good. When they get healthy, watch out. State title looking good for Godsey.
  14. Is the Bristol Paper not giving the scores, or is no one playing yet? I have seen a few Virginia High scores but very few from anyother team. No Tazewell scores. No Patrick Henry scores. Any help.........
  15. If Honaker pitched their ace, 5 runs by Abingdon is impressive. Honaker's pitcher is pretty good.
