  1. This final four, IMO, is true of the toughest four teams in AA. All are capable of winning the title. These final three games will come down to some crucial turnovers or penalties. I look for all three games to be close.
  2. thats what the WVSSAC brackets show. Saturday night... odd
  3. Classifications are based on enrollments in grades 9-11: A (42 schools) <337 AA (41 schools) 338-625 AAA (37 schools) >626 There are a total of 60 A schools, but only 42 have football teams. The new classifications will probably be adjusted to keep a close number of teams in each class.
  4. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=739017 WVU vs VT... wouldnt that stir things up.
  5. Conferences in WV have absolutely no effect on playoff standings or seedings. So really the only benefit of being in the conference is that the conference champ each year can put "coalfield conference champs" on their jackets.
  6. [ QUOTE ] honestly i think that if playing va schools would not hurt the beavers in the wv standings they should look into playing more local va aa schools like christiansburg blacksburg marion abingdon carroll county and other schools. i do feel it would make them even better than they already are which is scary lol.we can only hope. wish vhsl would allow wv school to play in va district and compete. [/ QUOTE ] Playing VA schools doesnot hurt WV schools. They are classified as a WV school and treated the same way. since va classifications are grades 9-12, and wv classifications are 9-11, the va school is given an equivalent 9-11 classification. Roughly a virginia school with 600 enrollment 9-12 would have 450 enrollment 9-11. That is why some schools that are AA in VA are worth AAA points in WV. its all based on WVs system and any out of state team is given an equivalent classification in the wv system based on their 9-11 enrollment.
  7. Yes that was one of the great Bluefield teams but didnt get to the big dance. It was a tough fought game i remember in the semifinal with East Bank, losing 22-14. that was Yubrenal's senior year and they just had a game plan that stuffed him.

  9. [ QUOTE ] They are just bitter anyways... [/ QUOTE ] exactly
  10. could this be saying something about coaching???? in other words, the same player, at one school he is perceived as a flop, and at the other school he's great.... hmmm
  11. the POINT is, graham ppl hate it that he wasnt able to make the "cloud of dust" offense into something it wasnt. you may not want him but you hate it that he has come to bluefield in a system that "fits" him and has been a huge success. therefore, that is why every thread that is about bluefield is being hijacked by the GTurds...
  12. "Cole had one good pass, the second one to Ponder, that's it.... " That comment doesnt surprise me. Graham world is pissed that Will came to bluefield and has been successful when graham didnt have the line or receivers to make him successful. Best move Will could have ever made was coming to Bluefield... he is part of a family that has embraced him and has unlocked his talent which compliments the overall team talent. While he was at Graham all he ever got was criticism for not being able to rescue a sinking ship when he was always running for his life.
  13. in '95, #16 Musselman beat Bluefield for the title. The 16 team format is fine.
  14. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I disagree in part. There is a good deal of overlap, especially among class A and AA in West Virginia and Virginia, if you go strictly by school enrollment. AAA may be a stretch, given some of the extremely large high schools in Northern Virginia and the Tidewater Region. [/ QUOTE ] you cant look at enrollments in wv and va at face value. enrollments in wv are 9-11 and enrollments in va are 9-12. to classify a wv team in va, you have to add another third i.e. a team in wv with 500 enrollment would have approximately 667 in va to classify a va team in wv, you have to subtract a fourth i.e. a team in va with 600 enrollment would have approximately 450 in wv. [/ QUOTE ] Fair enough. I did not know that; you learn something new everyday! However, under your system, there still is considerable overlap between the sizes in A and AA. It's been a while since I've examined this in detail, but in Virginia, special exemptions excepted, A goes to around 650, AA goes to around 1400, and AAA is anything above that. Again, I know there are schools bigger and smaller on both sides of all three classifications, but this is a rough estimate. Using your math on this scale (adding 1/3 for WV to VA, and subtracting 1/4 for VA to WV), there is a good deal of overlap until the far upper reaches of AA and beyond. Below that, I don't see how you can't compare them equally. [/ QUOTE ] i dont think you can really compare wv and va by enrollment or class at all. one way to compare though is by the MASSEY overall rating and strength of schedule or by the MAXPREPS overall ratings and strength of schedule. These are done by mathematical formulas that are not regional based, and all schools in the nation are rated by this same format. people will always argue that theyre home team, region, or state is better, thats the power of opinion but it is biased. Hard data that compares teams on an equal plane is your only true comparison, like Massey and Maxpreps.

  16. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] its not even worth it to try to to defend it. We can beat any local va teams @##$ on a consistent basis if they had the guts to play us and they will always say VA ball is better. TOTAL MORONIC STATEMENTS. I'd love to see any of youyou local VA teams play wayne, james monroe, parkersburg, wheeling central, martinsburg, morgantown, yada yada yada. Let the tidewater area continue to carry you. And win your region 4 section 6 class a subdivision p championships. [/ QUOTE ] Its OK guys let em vent... I would prob be upset if I wasn't a beaver too... long story short Bluefield beat every VA team that had the guts to play us... but you are totally right we could never ever ever hang in VA...??? haha thanks for the good laughs!!! [/ QUOTE ] Against Virginia A and AA teams? Of course. Against Virginia AAA teams? Probably not good ones, and certainly not great ones. [/ QUOTE ] you cant compare WV and VA classes, its like comparing apples and oranges
  17. why is it that va ppl have this obsession in proving to themselves that "va is better than wv"????? little man complex or something...
  18. [ QUOTE ] Didn't say they'd win it...just said it was the easy route...compared to the Va side... [/ QUOTE ] what an idiotic statement
  19. [ QUOTE ] in 2000, wyom. east bluefield was 1 v. 2 i believe... [/ QUOTE ] that was 1999
  20. [ QUOTE ] WVNS-59 out of Ghent has highlights of this game on their website and had Westside winning 14-13... [/ QUOTE ] can you post the WVNS link, thanks
  21. What will be remembered the most in ten years???? That Bluefield won the game or Roberts set the stste rushing record. The W is most important.
