Altizer wasn't ejected for doing his job...he was shoved into the bleachers for doing that. He was ejected because the sherriff was trying to please the voters of Buchanan county. There's your reason. And as far as being reprimanded for something you allegedly did, I believe there needs to be some kind of proof.

You need to not make accusations as to what was said unless you were standing close enough to hear it yourself. And as loud as it was in the gym that night, only the two people involved know what was really said. As far as the sherriff saying that's why Altizer was ejected, how can that be when there was no contact or communication between Altizer and the police until the minute they grabbed him by the shirt to haul him out of there?? They weren't close enough to hear anything said to Ellis either. I saw that with my own eyes. Altizer was there doing his job and is being dragged through the mud here with no proof of any wrongdoing. Don't believe what you hear and just pass if off as fact.

The only reason Altizer was ejected from the game was that the officer was an elected sherriff from Buchanan county trying to please the hometown crowd. What does he care about treating someone from Richlands-outside his voting area- unfairly? It was a gross abuse of power. There were plenty of witnesses who saw Altizer pushed first. Why would Altizer start an altercation with a fan (a much bigger guy, by the way)? There was a minute and a half left in a one point game...I'd say his mind was on that. The hostile atmosphere began when the Richlands team came out to warm-up before the game and were booed. I haven't seen that at any other away game. Grundy fans could take a lesson from their own players who showed much more class than many of the adults in their stands. I saw nothing but good sportsmanship from the Grundy players in this game. It's a shame the adults (especially the sherriff and this Ellis thug) could not have acted as well as they did.

Tazewell did not beat Richlands last year.
