Firstly we are all assuming that Devine will get a lot of playing time. I am a huge WVU fan and I am not sure they will have one of the top 5 teams in the nation next year. With the weapons on offense and Pat White becoming and actual "quarterback", they will be one of the top 2 or 3 offenses in the nation. When people talk about "best teams", they usually seem to forget that teams have a defense as well. WVU's defense is going to be better last year because of experience alone. If they run half as much zone as last year, they will continue to be beat up through the air. I honestly think they have a ligit. shot at winning the Championship next year but there are a lot of teams that have that same chance. Teams like Florida and USC will annually have great squads simply do to there recruiting classes. So this is not a messageboard intended to take away from schools or organizations. Yes, people have their right to their opinion, but let's stop throwing right hooks at everything that is said about something that you don't like. I love West Virgina but I am not going to jump out and say they are the best team or anything like that before the season starts. Yes, they have a very explosive offense but if their defense isn't better they are not going to be able to outscore everyone, as was evident in the Louisville game last season. I honestly do not like the ACC or VT but I am not going to say crap about them because they are a tough conference. Possibly the 2nd toughest conference in the nation and I respect any team that can win in that league. The Big East is a weak conference in football and I hope that it doesn't come down to that to decide if they will get to play for a national championship. That matter will be deciding this fall when the teams take the field for the 2007 season.

Well I hear ya on that Buzzy. Patterson is a very good defender as well. He as a good football IQ.

No he did not graduate. This is his senior year and he is HUGE! There is nothing better than seeing a 6'3", 250 pound guy hurdling defenders. It is great.

We got someone that can keep up. His goes by the name of Marcus Patterson. Watch out for him to have a big year.

He grew up in a terrible area and had many friends who didn't turn to football to clean up. They are into some very bad things and he would choose his friends over anything else in the world. That is what he said in an interview a few months back. He won't give up his friends, so he continues to get into trouble.

Just because they havent been able to get out of their old habits from the #3 biggest party school in the nation, doesn't mean people need to hate them. I do totally agree with their suspensions though. I just don't understand why they do stupid stuff like that. I mean they are in the NFL getting payed millions of dollars to do the thing that they love the most...or say they do. If I was making that much money, I would be so careful not to get in trouble doing bad stuff I shouldn't be doing. But they have done it and they got what they deserved. I am a little disappointed that Shawne Merriman didn't get a more serious punishment.I think he should have at least gotten a year suspension. I mean he cheated and only got 4 games? I think the NFL needs to set up rules to deal with any and every violation possible. Maybe they should have elected me as Commissioner.

An apology from both of you guys will be the only thing accepted. Nothing else. I read your post talking about his mother and then he retaliated. There aren't many people that wouldn't get mad if a stranger talked about there mother. Therefore you both have to apologize.

My view on this is we should keep this messageboard to discussions about sports. If one of the posts gets a little bit out of hand then a moderator should step in and say something. I personally have said some things in the "Band" agrument that I didn't really mean. I used them as a dramatic effect. Some people take things differently that others. The only way to dissolve this problem is to apologize and talk about some sports. BigBlueAlumn and I were in a huge argument about the "Band" topic but we got over our egos and now we are just two regular people wanting to talk about sports.

Speaking of Barry Sanders. Anyone have any idea why he retired in the prime of his career? That has been a question I have had since I was a little kid. There is no doubt in my mind that he was the best running back of all time, but he didn't have the numbers to back it up because he disappeared. Strange.

I have watched a lot of tape on him and his running style reminds me a lot of Slaton himself. His is amazing speed and by the time the defense knows which hole he is going through, he is already 20 yards down-field. I think he would be a great 3rd-and-long back with Slaton and White back there. Another thing he could help with is if he is able to run consistently, Coach Rod may be able to put Slaton out in the slot on some plays. He is a fairly small guy so I think his biggest thing is going to be staying healthy. Looking forward to seeing him play.
