  1. [ QUOTE ] you gotta get past Graham to do anything...and I dont see that happening myself. [/ QUOTE ] Nothing is impossible to those who believe
  2. [ QUOTE ] Ryan4VT i know your big into football and stuff but please dont make fun of the chmara blue. It means a lot to me and a lot of former players, coaches, and fans. I know you have a lot of passion for richlands football, as did i when i was going to bluefield high, and still do now. Just give coach Chmara some respect. thats all i ask. thanks. [/ QUOTE ] He really wasn't making fun of the color. He was asking if it was a special color mixed for the Beaver uniform. At least that's my take on it.
  3. [ QUOTE ] who was player of the week last week? [/ QUOTE ] Taylor Robertson--James Monroe
  4. Congratulations Joel on an outstanding game and a very deserving honor!!!! Way to GO BIG BLUE!!!!!
  5. One thing is for sure the winner will be wearing Red!!! Think this one will go to the Spartans. Spartans - 34 Pioneers - 14
  6. [ QUOTE ] Open 42 tazewell 7 [/ QUOTE ] Come on guys!! Ease up on the Dawgs---they are just a young group of kids Don't beat on them while they are down!!!
  7. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] I'm voting he starts/rekindles a new program at Pepperdine University in Malibu if he ever leaves Richlands. It's located overlooking the Pacific Ocean....if you're ever out that way...a must see.....an absolutely gorgeous drive. Just a little trivia thrown in, FYI, since we got the rumors out of the way. [/ QUOTE ] Like your post Tru-Blue---be a great place to visit and watch Coach Mance work his "magic". May start running the "West Coast Offense"
  8. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Due to Haysi Player having a staph infection. Rescheduled for later date prob on a Monday. Oh Well guess the BDD will be decided later. [/ QUOTE ] why couldnt the player just sit out like anyone else would if they had some type of injury or illness? [/ QUOTE ] My understanding, the staph can be on surfaces that would be in the locker rooms, so they would have to be disinfected before being used.
  9. Hope both teams play well with no injuries. My heart for this one is for the Spartans to come away with the W!!! GO BIG RED!!!!!
  10. [ QUOTE ] i'll give them the respect, they earned it for sure...they are a lot better than people were expecting...i think the Richlands radio guys said it best "this is not your grandmothers Abingdon Falcons"...they are pretty good and will be all that Graham, Grundy, and Tazewell can handle...should be some good football played in the swd the rest of the year. [/ QUOTE ] Agree completely. The Falcons are a handful!!!! Sure made it a nail-biting time for us Blues fans. Great game Abingdon. GO BLUES!!!!!
  11. It is when they play receiver catch 10 passes for 113 yards and the game-winning touchdown in the closing seconds against a quality opponent. Player of the week shouldn't be based solely on putting up lofty numbers because teams are different and they play different level of competition om a weekly basis. No one from Bluefield is going to put up four or five touchdowns in a single game and 200 yards rushing because Bluefield believes in a team concept where no single player is the primary offensive weapon. Bluefield spreads the ball around to various players, usually no less than four different backs and two or three receivers. The award should be based the importance of the player in the game and on the final outcome as well as their stats. I'm not impressed by a player putting up 250 rushing yards and multiple touchdowns against an inferior opponent. I'm more impressed by a player putting up solid numbers against top notch competition and delivering in the clutch. That's MY view of how any P.O.W. award should be handed out. Everyone has their own view, opinion, etc. [/ QUOTE ] B R I am suprised by this post. Are you inferring that Powell Valley (who was undefeated) was an inferior opponent to Richlands? Believe me they weren't. Richlands was behind at half-time and Austin was challenged to step up by his coach. If Richlands did not have a team concept they would not be going for their 33rd regular season win. Austin stepped up for his team as one of the senior leaders, not to put up lofty stats. Accepting the challenge given him at half time, showed he was ready to step up in a clutch situation and help the team win. Ansel Ponder does not need you, me or anyone to defend his P.O.W. award, he was well deserving of it.
  12. Come on kids---you both have put in enough jabs at each other!! Both ATHLETES WERE HONORED FOR THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS. Just different organizations. Don't take away from their day by making the thread personal.
  13. Congrats to Ponder!!! What I liked best, from the story, was he gave the credit to God---sounds like a young man with a good foundation to his life. Austin, also, was honored this week for his accomplishments. He was chosen as player of the week on WJHL TV-Johnson City. Was a great tv promo on their sports segment!! CONGRATULATIONS ON TWO FINE YOUNG MEN WHO HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH ATHLETIC ABILITY AND ON COMMUNITIES WHO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THEIR EFFORTS!!!
  14. Big D thanks for your USUAL STRAIGHT TALK---no opinions only facts.
  15. My nephew is an assistant coach at Murray County High School My grandson plays for Grayson High School in Gwinnett Co
  16. What GA high school does your son play football for?
  17. I saw Abingdon play in the 7 on 7 at Richlands and was impressed with their play compared to last year when I saw them play against Richlands. Even though they are improved the Blues will be to much for them. Blues 35 Falcons 6
  18. I think what he is trying to say is they need to be a pep band when in the stands and a marching band during half-time show.
  19. Tom, there have been some wonderful testimonies on this thread to you and I have to agree you are searching for answers. Each one of the posters shared their experience about what God means to them and what he has done for them. Let me share something with you that lets me know God is drawing you. Friday afternoon, I was headed up to Richlands to watch the game and I just happened to get on this thread before I left home. You were on my mind and I was praying for you. Had my radio on a Christian station and this song by Vince Gill came on "Tell Me One More Time About Jesus". Tom, as I was listening to this song it basically was telling what you had posted on your original post how you had a preacher friend who shared with you the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was so amazed to hear the words of that song. It could be your testimony. I challenge you to read the Bible and let God speak to you himself through his word. It is the most accurate roadmap a person could ever need or follow!!!
  20. Rumors usually do travel a long and winding road for those who want to listen.
  21. [ QUOTE ] Just remember that you heard it first from Cornholio! I was hanging out in the RHS coaches office this afternoon and the scuttlebutt was that Coach Mance will be leaving at the end of the year to start a football program at a Virginia college (that will remain unnamed for now). When asked directly, he would neither confirm nor deny. Cornholio will stay on top of this story better than a National Enquirer reporter. [/ QUOTE ] NO WAY will I believe the day before Richlands first game they are sitting in the coaches offices and talking about anything other than the GAME WITH GATE CITY. To me this is just another ploy to try and get the team from not being focused. They are focused and will be ready tonight!! LET'S GO BIG BLUE!!!
  22. [ QUOTE ] Somebody should shoot some pictures like the guys have from Bluefield and Princeton so we can compare the three? [/ QUOTE ] Good idea---I would love to see pics--not to compare but to see how great it looks!!!
  23. [ QUOTE ] As long as Palmer is coaching the defense Gate City will be capable of pinning 100 markers on Richlands. [/ QUOTE ] Coach Palmer's defense has been awesome and will continue to be that way!!!
  24. This is my first year reading this forum and I am suprised by the comments I see from people who are so called "Blues" supporters. There is no question that Justin McCracken has been Richlands best QB, the results speak for themselves. I hope he will have the same results at Liberty and I believe he will. Austin's scholarship was offered by VT due to his athletic abilities and not who he is related to. Richlands and VT have not become a dominant force in football due to nepotism. I think it was very unfair to infer that Coach Mance and Coach Beamer direct their successful programs by this manner.
  25. In no way was Austin saying anything to demean Tazewell or their team. If you knew him personally you would know this to be true. What team wouldn't be out to defeat the defending state champs. I would never want to quell a player's enthusiasm for the game or his team as long as no malice is intended (and it certainly wasn't).
