  1. correct me if im wrong but i dont recall radford winning the state at all in recent years (since 1999 up to current) b/c they were beat by nandua, clarke county and others. i only remember them only making the state quarterfinals and falling short for a few years in a row, even with the great players they had like whit, henry reed, and company. i will admit they did beat us fair and square a few times so dont pull that card out but im just stating the facts that they definitely didn't get tired of "winning the state title with one loss" to graham and such b/c that would require them to have won it after your team beat them.
  2. as much as i am a fan and coplayer with some of the players from the team and all no i dont think they would. they play against the weakest...and i do mean weak competition of the MED. the teams have improved some but galax still beats them with ease by at least 2-5 goals each game. galax and carroll has been a good game the past few years with them beating carroll (which never happened before i graduated) and i have to say honestly they wouldn't be that good in the district. they couldn't handle the physical, rough play of the rest of the district b/c that's how you slow down and beat their style of quick, short pass style of game. they have never been able to improvise and handle the game being changed to a slower pace. they're good b/c they suck every team into trying to play the same addictive, fast paced style of game and very few teams can beat them at their own style b/c they'll simply just outscore you instead of make it a 1-0 game. so no galax would not be that great in the district and would easily get stomped in regionals just like all the other SWD teams have.
  3. my bad i thought he was talking about the guys and girls. i knew it was bud jeez that's even worse than i thought. i had always heard hidden valley's field was small like marion for some reason so it created a more speedball style of play so my fault on being wrong about that.
  4. like i said before..b/c of demand on gas prices and all lately. plus fan base for the teams still representing.
  5. not surprised. graham's goalkeeper wasn't that good and if you could control the midfield you could beat them. they were dominate in SWD b/c they knew how to move their formation up and control the middle.
  6. regionIVfan is right. i was looking at the percentage and they had 80 goals for, 4 against in 13 regular season games. no team scored more than 1 goal against them in a game during regular season and closest was the last game against cave spring 2-1 at cave spring for hidden valley. they were pretty much averaging 6.16 or so goals a game against their opponents in a good district and strength of schedule. no one in our region is going to slow hidden valley's women's team down. a region I or II team may somehow be able to surprise and give them a great challenge since they will be playing on a much larger, closer to regulation size field at state's then the marion-like, hidden valley field then they are used to, but i still think they'll dominate. btw even though it doesnt matter your stat of 29-0 is innacurate. it's 29-1 as you reported in your score updaates but you know someone was gonna point that out even as miniscule as that is.
  7. with that resume i have to agree. i guess with him signing with william and mary instead of somewhere like UVA in our state that is known for producing some MLS caliber players he's doing what many of us should have done and is sign with a school he can play for and also get a great degree at. i mean william and mary is a great school and once he finishes his 4 years there he's going to easily get a job in whatever profession he chooses to pursue with it.
  8. regionIVfan has seen a lot of games over the years since i know he's the same guy with that same screenname from virginiapreps. i recognize the lingo and language in your typing as very similar so im assuming im right that you are the same person. however i gotta agree with them and say you always have had a negative view on all of the SWD, actually most of region IV other than when martinsville came out and showed up in states a couple years ago. i mean the SWD teams like carroll, graham, and tazewell have played well against teams like abingdon, marion, and martinsville before the district realignment and if anything they have proven to come closer to being evenly matched in recent years then they were in the past "slaughterhouse" matches of the likes. if i do recall bburg was impressed with carroll county the time they played them in the state tournament back in 1999. bburg was only disappointed b/c the star play of marco canonica was not involved with teamwork but with him individually trying to win the game. we'll just see if one of the underdogs can be motivated enough to pull the upset b/c upsets are going to happen.
  9. if this was a few years ago it would simply not come up. but with constant rising gas prices this summer and the economy the way it is i can see it being a logical choice honestly. it just has to be fairly done for the next couple years that the other districts are hosting the regional to ensure things just in case somehow the piedmont or river ridge "hypothetically" didn't make a semifinal or final like the SWD is "hypothetically" not going to. i only say hypothetically b/c despite the lack of respect the other districts in the region give the SWD there is always a chance any dog will get it's day. soccer is historically the sport with the MOST "upsets" in the history of sports so you never know what may happen at the high school level.
  10. well you could just put 6 blind nuns on the field with 1 chuck norris and that's all it would take. haha.
  11. i think it's tunstall is what someone said...i may be wrong?
  12. correct me if im wrong but didnt several other players score on you? and isnt that the idea of how to play the game is to control the midfield, maintain possession, and get the ball to your forwards to score? now how about you take your own words and use them in a game. maybe when you show you can actually play on the field you can join the big boys table with the rest of us.
  13. blasphemy...erroneous on all counts. it only takes one chuck norris to do anything. you better be sure to look under your bed and say 6 bloody mary's or something to be sure chuck doesn't come after you for that. haha.
  14. graham beat abindgon 5-0 is what i was told. i may be wrong on the score, though.
