Va High won their tourney bracket today by defeating Robinson, VA 14-4. My nephew Austin Ray smacked a grand slam in the win. In the tourney, he went 2-0 on the mound and had 2 HRs and quite a few RBIs. It's hard to be a Bearcat fan, but I will be for baseball this spring only!

No, not really. What I can't figure out is how the officials let the players beat and bang in the 1st half and then decide to call breathing on the player a foul in the 2nd half. Obviously, they sensed Honaker might win. Can't have that! Typical for our SWVA teams.

Geez, these announcers from Altavista are one-sided.  If the Tigers can take away the 3-pointer opportunities, they stand a chance.  That's why Altavista is ahead.

Wise Central dispatched their opponent earlier today.  Looks like it could possibly be a rematch against Floyd County for them later this week.  SWVA basketball is looking good in Richmond right now.

It's called leadership and citizenship.  More of our youth need to get involved in their communities and lead by example.  If students are applying for colleges, part of the application needs to show community involvement and volunteerism.  Great job of leading by this young man; however, I hope to see him go out on the losing side of their basketball game against Honaker.  Other than that, he seems to be well on his way to success!

Yes, great seasons for Honaker, Haysi and Richlands.  I just don't see Honaker having a strong season next year, it will be a big rebuilding year, but there will be some good players in place.  I expect Harley Hilton to be another great QB and will be starting as a Sophomore. 

As we know, Haysi will be joiining forces with Clintwood to form Ridgeview.  I'm sure they will be extremely tough in the 2A division.

Well, for Richlands, we know they will be back in the mix again.  Always seem to have new kids step up.

If Essex can play any type of defense, they can beat Altavista.  Don't pass the ball, because their secondary is great.  TD Thornhill for 65 yrds.  30-7 with XP coming.

Under 5 mins to go, 24-7 AV.  Well this one's over.  Doesn't look good for Haysi, so we need Richlands to punch it in the endzone in the 2nd half.  Honaker's defense has just been stellar except for that last run.  The offense lost this one.
