Nope Redtiger. The player was limited in practice and when it come time for the game Compton held the player out so he could rest and recover for the next game which happened to be da Falcons. That would be the game that Duel Caudill played RB and ran up and down the field. Matter of fact the coaches were putting in there 2 back offense that week for the falcons when the kid showed up on Monday and quit stating that his heart just wasnt into it like he thought it would be. Personally, I think he saw how Caudill ran da ball against Bland and got scared of a little competition at that position

FYI! Compton's going to BC so how was his son suppose to stay at PH if he is taking another job in Bluefield? some questions just show others stupidity!!

I kinda doubt BC will lead the conference in sacks for 2 resons. 1.) Compton will finally be coaching o-line the way it needs to be coached instead of over seeing everything and making sure what needs to be done is done and 2.) the players that he will be coaching want to play football and will be eager to learn from someone who has been there and done that. He wont have to put up with dummies like some of the guys on this board nor will he have to baby sit for mommy/daddy. Ph had talent to run the spread skill wise simply because they were and still are not big enough or strong enough to play power football. Ritchie Thomas lost to Northwood many years ago, i doubt he would be able to beat holston considering the run of players they had the past 2-3 years.

DUDE!! Seriously you need to get off the college/nfl lingo and attend more ph games. There was nothing being run or coached at ph thats anything close to the nfl/college schemes. Everything they did was high school based, including the blocking on runs or pass. I dont know where u get your info but feel free to ask any assistant or compton himself and you will see exactly what they were doing. i mean seriously do u think he actually tried to run nfl/college schemes with high school kids? I guess mance(RHS), Thurman(VHS) just to state a few, are running the nfl/college schemes. Don't think so. all 3 are the same basic schemes. Wait a minute!! those schools have ATHLETES!! Well i got news for you blue crue i dont think ph has the same caliber athletes as the gate city's, Poquson nor richlands. Thats is obivious! When you have players, especially ones that get in the weight room and are as comitted as the names you mentioned it is alot easier. For whats its worth, probably not much ph's spread was pretty much the same as richlands etc... just fewer athletes. They were not big enough or strong enough to line up in the straight t and blow people of the ball.

Obiviously you have no idea what your talking abou when it comes to the spread offense. if its an 8 man front then they shouldnt be running the ball know -it-all. the rebels did run dive, counter action and even the counter trey that abingdon uses. plus they read the zone play just like abingdon and every other spread team in the entire world. What games did u watch! they also had gap protection which is a slide protection that covers evry gap from the front side to the back side. If the gaps are covered then where are the defenders going to rush? DUH!! they also blocked man protection as well, but thanks to lack of strength and athleticism were over ran. The days of blocking the old little league rule of on, over or inside has changed since then.

I got news for you all coaches talk about there players. Because all of share similar stories. The thing that gets me is you constantly bring up superbowl rings! what does that have to do with any thing? The man earned those as a player, he wasnt a coach. Did the whole community think that just because they had a coach that had 2 rings that was their ticket to success? I dont think so but i do know this. You dont get 2 superbowl rings by being lazy, not working hard and finding excuses. No! the truth is the man came from similar background as the kids he was coaching and tried to teach them that success wouldnt come easy and that thru hard work, dedication and sacrafice things would eventually turn in favor of the rebels. Say what you want but the man, in my opinion was laying a foundation for a program and everybody wants it the easy way. Got news for you people there isnt an easy way.

Listen, all this talk about connecting with kids is absurd. If wanting a young man to do his best and compete with his team mates is cause for disconnection then I guess he didnt connect. If working hard and playing how the coaches asked and coached you to is cause then he and his staff didnt connect. Every coach is different but at least with coach compton you knew where he stood and was going to be honest with you. He didnt play favorites. He treated everyone the same. All that he asked for was hard work, dedication and the desire to compete. You cant give a kid the desire to want to compete. That comes from within. As far as his "pro" style blocking and offense it was the easiest stuff around. You blocked a gap.

To my understanding the coach does things to try to get the kids to lift. Such as T-Shirts, priority on equipment over the ones that don't and if I heard right he was going to put players last name on the back of their game jerseys if they made a certain percentage of lifting from now until the beginning of football practice. Heard that this would come out of his own pocket as was several things that ph already has. He has totally improved the weight room 100% from how it was with nice equipment. The tools are their the boys just wont make a committment to be successful. The old saying "You can lead a horse to water, but you cant make him drink." seems to be true. I dont have a kid that plays fooyball but from everything ive seen and heard Compton has done everything and then some to try to get program turned around.
