  1. Some bad calls toward the end. I guess the little sawed off ref, who is the athletic trainer for virginia high, is still upset about their athletic director and students getting in big trouble when the AD allowed the students to openly sexually harass the Marion volleyball team this past season.
  2. As for the girls game, Grundy played hard. Marion didn't. Specially in the 2nd half.
  3. Is this your version of sportsmanship? Maybe too much coal dust in the brain? Yes, chokehold. It was right in front of me, your boy laying on top of ours with his arm around the neck and pulling back on the neck. Sounds like a choke hold. But if you will read my post, maybe with someone's help this time, you will see that the main issue I was getting at was the ref not calling something as blatant and obvious as this when it happens right in front of him.
  4. I watched her let the team go from a 10 point lead at halftime to lose by 21. One might think a coach would call a timeout at some point to settle her players down, but not this one. She waits until there is less than one minute left in the ballgame to call a timeout. It must have been a very inspiring speech in the locker room at halftime to get that kind of turn around.
  5. I thought both sets were kind of crazy. Grundy's #10 put a choke hold on one of Marion's players right in front of the ref with no call. Also a Grundy JV boy jumped up and hung on the rim while everyone was lining up for a Marion freethrow with no call. And the girls games were awful. They were allowed to beat each other half to death. Just some sorry refereeing all night.
  6. Too bad Noe didn't dominate the paint, right?
  7. So she doesn't have to verbally abuse the kids, that's what. Look, I know the odds of getting full rides at big schools aren't that good, but even a partial ride at a smaller school could mean a good education without as much hardship on the family, right?
  8. This woman has got to be the worst coach I have ever seen. She has at least 4 girls on the team that used to play AAU together yet she hardly ever puts them on the court together. She subs at the tiniest mistake so players don't even get a chance to get warmed up and into the game. Any loss is blamed on the girls to the tune of 'I can't believe you didn't win this for me!!'. That is totally unacceptable. When the starters are subbed out and the score starts to get out of hand, a coach should be able to tell and make the necessary changes, but not this coach. Everything is too personal and taken as being against her when all the girls want is to play ball. I wonder how many players over the last few years have had potential scholarship chances taken away because of Sallie Moss. Players with potential have not bothered going out for basketball because of the drama she starts and feeds within the team. I have heard that after Tuesday's loss to Chilhowie that the girls have to write a one page paper about what they think their role is and responsibilities are to the team. I say the coaches need to do the same, copy them and send them home with the players to the parents of the players. This situation has been going on for years. Parents have approached the high school administrators many times. Administrators deny knowing about any problems. I know last year the coach told the girls in the locker room at halftime of one game that 'you suck!'. Then all the girls walked out of practice the following day when being threatened about paying for losing badly. What a way to create moral. This issue went all the way to the superintendant last year with no resulting reprimand to the coach. Do any of you guys have any fun stuff like this happening in your schools?
  9. This whole thing seems to be everywhere in the last few years. I can't seem to understand why refs can't just go out and call a game down the middle like they are getting paid to do. I do understand that we as fans from our point of view may see things that the official doesn't but I have seen many blatant fouls ignored even when they happen directly in front of officials. I like my teams to win but not because the refs helped, and likewise I don't like losing but I can't stand it knowing that the game was close and we were getting bad calls the whole time. I think we should make a thread to post pictures of refs who made consistantly bad calls whether our teams won or lost. This way we can weigh in on our experiences with each particular ref.
  10. No, because the tendancy over the last 2-3 decades has been that the democrats have been moving toward supporting more things that go against what I look at when deciding who I am voting for. Such as homosexual agendas, abortion, immigration, etc. I am not syaing all democrats lean that way and I'm not saying all republicans lean the other way. I'm saying that based on what we are allowed to know about the two men running for office now, I am sorely afraid to put the democrat cadidate in office with pelosi and her bunch in charge in congress.
  11. The scariest part for me is the thought of putting a president in office that is the same party as the congressional majority, specially when many immoral agendas are getting so much support. And we don't have an unbiased media to get the word to the american people.
  12. I guess this means 'a bunch of kids who don't know how to pull up their pants and wear a belt' right?
