Final--Fort Chiswell 13 Essex 38....when you read the stats tomorrow...don't be fooled....They threw 6 flags on the last 6 plays of the game against Essex to "level" the numbers. When the Roanoke times tweets the uncertainty, you know there is something...... Anyway, Come on Haysi, lets get going....

Nothing against the Essex football team....but this would be a much better game if the officials would call the game both ways....NO doubt the Essex team is capable of winning this game, but to completely take one team out of the game with poor chain maintance, bad ball spots, and a lot of questionable calls is not fair to either team.

Essex first possession was a 3 and out...Fort Chiswell ball on the Essex 41 with 3 minutes left in the first quarter...Essex is putting 8 and 9 in the box on every play and Fort is still gaining 4 and 5 yards per play except for the stall at the end of the first possession.

Just got an update from Essex...they brought bleachers in that run from the 10 yard line to the 10 yard line on the visitor side. Fort Chiswell filled them and then some....

What are peoples thoughts on this game? I have waited all week for someone to start the topic, but never did. I hope to see an All-West final, and I think both teams have a very good chance in making it. I know that both east teams are boasting the speed of their teams, but I really don't think their speed is of that magnitude to warrant the score predictions on other sites. I remember just last year that no one gave GW much of a chance because every player on Sussex was sub 4.5 and GW's power running game would not be enough to slow them down....we know how that turned out. I do believe the Fort has an offensive line that rivals some small colleges. My prediction Fort 38 Essex 14...and that score has NOTHING to do with impending weather.

I said it before in another forum on here and I will say it again. Haysi deserves and has earned the right to play in sandlick. The fans deserve to watch the game in sandlick. AltaVista filing a protest is poor sportsmanship in my opinion. Did Fort chiswell file one with a 5 hour bus trip in front of them? I guarantee their bus trip is 2 times as long as AltaVista.....No, they didn't, the community has banded together and raised money to make sure the football team goes there a day early, make sure they have a comfortable bed to sleep in Friday night, a good meal to eat before the game. They have also raised enough money to make sure the band and the cheerleaders can go. And they are making sure thru church vans and such that all the players families have he opportunity to see the game. Home field is something that is earned and cherished in every sport we play in this country, whether it is high s

VHSL streams all of the championship games on their website....anything before that you have to go to or listen on the radio

Congrats to Haysi....tell the state that the sandlick field is fine....I think Home field advantage is something earned and needs not to be taken away....does the NFL tell the Green Bay packers to reschedule because it is to cold...the Chicago Bears to stop the wind......The cowboys to take the cheerleaders off the pedestals around the field because they distract the visiting team...NO....so let AltaVista come and play in the trenches in sandlick....just my opinion....Hope to see Haysi and Fort Chiswell in Salem in 2 weeks

I hope that is what he meant.....just doing some research, I think Haysi and Fort Chiswell both have a very good chance to be making the trip to Salem together....
