Bluefield_Rules 46 Author Report Share Posted January 29, 2005 Wow, Bluefield actually trailed JM at halftime; I'm not sure that has ever happened. They did outscore 50-18 in the second half, but they need to start playing a complete game. I'm noticing a dangerous trend from this team of not getting up for every opponent, which will eventually spell doom. LINDSIDE - The Bluefield Beavers used a strong second half to come from behind to defeat the James Monroe Mavericks 74-48, Friday night at James Monroe High School. After a dead-even first quarter, the Mavericks took a 30-24 lead into thehalftime break. Bluefield, however, came out smoking in the second half. The Beavers quickly erased the six point deficit and led 51-44 at the end of three quarters. The Beaver lead grew to over 20 points in the fourth quarter as Bluefield outscored the homestanding Mavericks 23-4 in the final stanza. Dexter Moore led Bluefield with 17 points, all coming in the second half. Johnathon Repass and Tremayne Matthews each tallied 16 and Quintin Steptoe came off the bench to score 12. James Monroe was led by Corey Miller, Jason Whitmore and Heath Mullins each with 10 points. Bluefield returns to action Tuesday night at Princeton. Bluefield won the JV game 73-48 to improve to 8-0 on the season. At James Monroe High School Bluefield (10-3)....................15 9 27 23 - 74 James Monroe (4-10).......15 15 14 4 -
