LegendatLegion 109 Report Share Posted February 26, 2005 In a very high energy game GC jumped out early and led the game 18-12 at the end of one. They then really jumped out ahead 33-16 using full court pressure and ran Twin springs all over the court. GC then went cold (mostly from the line 2-8, with most being front end of 1 and 1's) Twin Springs then went on a 20-2 run showing the heart of the two-time region D champs they are. the run stretched from late second to early in the third and Twin Springs led after three by 4 46-42. GC and TS played about even the rest of the way and the game was tied at 58 with 37 seconds to go. Lindholm scored and was fouled, GC then scored but it was called off as Nate Clark was called for an illegle screen away from the ball, Mark Dockery made both, and TS was up five. GC missed and Lindholm was fouled by Clark who was called for an intentional foul and he made both and Dockery hit a three and a layup at the end to make a very close game sound like an easy Twin Springs victory. Gate City will have to travel to Salem to play Glenvar in the quarters, a 71-45 victor over Galax. Galax will have to travel down to Castlewood to play Twin springs. *in the first game, GC jumped out 17-6 at the half and held off JJKelly to win the 5th meeting between the two and the Region Championship they will host the loser of Radford and Floyd county with JJKelly traveling to the region C champ. GC also lost Luke Humphreys to a knee injury midway thru the first half and he did not return. That could hurt down the road for GC as he is a key performer down low along with twin brother Will for the devils.
